j.bal...
Do NOT worry. You have a mismatched set just like most of us from the WEAPONEER group buy...You will probably NOT get satisfaction from I/O or help from Weaponeer...best to just lick your wounds and buy one from RTG. Robert is a good guy. Grinding to fit is NOT recommended.
IF you'll check your kit you probably got a Yugo or Postwar feed tray for .308 (not 8mm as advertised), your missing the rear stock catch, spring and pin, probably your front sight parts too, and a few various bolt parts... Robert will also have a nice Bakelite stock to replace the chunk of wooden crap they pass off as a stock (made in India of course...)
Good luck...

IO no help
The fellow at IO was no help. He said that "they ran into this problem a couple of years ago and have sold hundreds of kits that are this way... No body ever really complained! The builders are simply grinding down the tab to fit the slot. No he has no idea where to get a complete one."

well that trunion is probly the most important part of the gun and there is a seam in the reciever under it so rather then grind it you may want to buy one from rtg

Hey Y'all ,
Just to let you know, on the cam I got with my kit, the serials on the two pieces match. The cam appears to be fairly new, has no sign of welds, and it is not a wermach stamped part. The cam pieces had the rivet head milled off but the rivet had been driven back in to keep the parts together.
I know it is a long shot, but post the SerNos and particulars and maybe some of yours will match up. I am sure the guys on Weaponeers will work with this as well. Can Not hurt!
Mike

Inter-Ordnance is a REAL CLASS act.....If no one complained how come Weaponeer asked our group buy members to STOP calling I/O because we were going to ruin his future group buys with I/O due to ALL the complaints...(and you can go to the 10+pages of MG42 group buy discussion and read it for yourself if it hasn't been deleted)... No body ever really complained!
Too many deals with I/O turn up going sour and I/O has NO customer service other than "Tough (Try a different word.)...if you don't like what we decided to send you, send it back on your dime and we will charge you 50% restocking fee..don't call us again"
Weaponeer should have offered a partial refund say $50-$75 for the kits since they were NOT as advertised and were missing $100+ worth of parts....that would have gone a LONG way to better handling the situation with ALL those that got screwed.
I/O is a risk EVERY-time you order...if you haven't been screwed by them, you will...
(I know a few of you have had WONDERFUL buys from I/O...you ARE the minority)

Well unfortunetly Gary doesn't make one cent off almost all those group buys he runs. His website is run off his dime and donations. And less than one percent of the members there on his website donate. So Gary has to do all the hard work then pay for materials to get the group buys complete. Like I said, he didn't make any money off those MG42 kits (except maybe a few measly donations to keep the website running) and because of that I doubt he has the kind of scratch laying around to offer people any kind of refund for something he didn't sell.Weaponeer should have offered a partial refund say $50-$75 for the kits since they were NOT as advertised and were missing $100+ worth of parts....
Just my .02 cents...

I agree...you can't expect weaponeer to pay anybody. You knew the kits were coming from IO, and you knew their dubious nature...you would have come out of it with the same loss if you bought it as an individual. I'm quite sure those who are privy to IO's ways voiced their concern to fellow group buyers as the deal was ramping up...if not, then I"d say it was poor communication.
It's better to be silent and considered a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

If Gary had NOT asked everyone to stop approaching I/O about the bad kits, saying that we were ruining HIS chances at more I/O group buys, AND that HE would work on our BEHALF to remedy the situation...it would be a WHOLE different story. BUT HE DID and he HASN'T!
After several request for updates..NONE of which were ever answered I don't expect ANYTHING from Gary...but I have an OBLIGATION to fellow gun/kit enhusiast to share my experiances both GOOD and BAD so someone considering a purchase might be better informed.
I DON"T have a "Beef" with Gary, I just think he has handled (failed to handle) the I/O MG42 GB very poorly in his communication with those of us who got screwed. j.bal (as many others will find out when they begin to build) is SOL on critical parts he's already paid for but never received...
MY apologies for changing the direction of this thread, it was NOT intended as a slam on WEAPONEER.COM. j.bal now knows what he's probably missing and will need to replace and the reasons why...

I've been dealing with Inter-Ordnance since they first opened up in 1997.I've bought many kits from them.MG34's and 42's , Brens, tripods and ect. and I must be the minority because they've never screwed me over on any parts kits. They've made some mistakes but they've always owned up to them in the past.If you have a beef with I/O,ask for Dave because he always straightens out any problems. He's their best customer relations guy and he meets with the owner Ovie on a regular basis. The owner used to take the orders by himself when they first opened up.Inter-Ordnance was also the leaders of the pack, because they were the first in the industry that asked for complete demilled MG42 receivers and more desireable cutting methods on the MG34 receivers from the BATF.They had nuts, everyone else from Sarco to I.M.A. were cutting the 34 receivers thru the buffer threads and front cam section. The old Inter-Ordnance receiver has the nicest torch cuts.A year from now your MG42's will double in value since receivers and barrels are now banned from entering the U.S.
Barrels are banned, "intact" receivers also, but not torch cut. Choose thine words with caution, I do not want to see a panic striken board again.
