Anti aircraft front site base for m53 ?

i searched, and googled, and i cant find the answer.

is there a source for the front site base that the spider anti aircraft site goes into?

i tried all the usual places, no dice.

i know the m53 does not usually come with the base, unless its a very early gun made with German parts from the war. i already have the spider front site, but i need the base. i have no problem drilling and riveting one in, if i can find one.

any help would be great!

Dan from Angola was working on getting some repos made up for us (he has the rear AA sites too BTW), haven't heard any updates lately though.

thanks, i did see the post about Dan, but i could not find any further info, nor were there any solutions for sale on their website. perhaps they will come up with a solution given the greater number of firearms that have been delivered now. i will keep looking.

is it similar to the mg42 spider site?

I know the feeling. I have a few original mg42 front AA bases. I need some more and could not find any, so I made a small batch of them. The only difference is the ID is .5 mm larger and there is no retaining clip but the notch is cut. I also have stamped them ehs. I am planning to make another small batch next week. Let me know how many of you are interested. I will post some pics of one of mine and an original. Sorry I am not selling my originals.

that may be, i googled, and looked around, and i could not find the answer, or any pic of AA sites on mg3's in action as used by a military force. i bought the front spider as i thought i needed it too, but i guess it would look a bit silly with both.

oakrodents AA site bases are absolutly great they are an exact duplicate I purchased several & they were of superior quality & finish hard to tell it from the real thing & I did compare them to originals the ehs is a nice touch as well.... Thanks oakrodent for producing a Quality part that was here before non existant my hats off to you .....

+1. I recently installed one of oakrodents front AA sight bases on my M53...very nice repro sight base (thanks oak). Get 'em while you can!

I used an IO repro spider sight and also bought the rear AA sight setup from Dan at Angola (good guy too to deal with). I'm happy with the way it turned out.

I used the wood crate my M53 came in and modified it a bit by adding bracing and an oak lid (looks better than plywood), along with some hinges and latches off an ammo crate. I than stained it and used some stencils for markings. If I get a chance I'll take some better pics and post them.
