WLA rear receiver
i am looking for someone that has built up an mg using the new wla rear receiver...NOT THE 80% RECEIVER. im unsure of exactly where to start and where the holes need to be drilled and how. If there is anybody that has done a couple of these and can provide guidance, please advise asap! I am also curious to know what receiver the majority of the population here would use for a build. Feel free to post on this subject. Thank you guys

Re: WLA rear receiver
Did you get it directly from WLA?
A template would obviously be ideal, have you contacted WLA yet to see if they will sell you one?
It is a nice receiver choice, but certainly more work than the 80%……………….

Re: WLA rear receiver
im starting to worry. im hearing that the wise lite arms receivers will probably never come back and im not going to even waste my time with a cold steel. So that leaves me with a brp or one of the ones sold on the weaponeer web site. Im seriously worried about ever being able to find one
Re: WLA rear receiver
I tried to email BRP about any methods to ship their rear receivers to Canada, but no response . It kind of sucks though, because im missing literally 1 to 1.5 inches. I will probably have to buy that camming section repair for $120, just to take up an inch of material , seems like a waste to me.
I'd much prefer a WLA rear receiver, but even if they had them in stock, they arent licensed to export... However could it be possible, if maybe i could go through a 3rd party licensed exporter you guys think?
Those stampings they have on APEX just look too challenging for my abilities, and i'd rather spend the extra cash, than waste my time destroying a $400+ stamping. Unless anybody has a tutorial as to where to cut and drill, or possibley a printed out template that could be glued on, i doubt i would attempt those stampings.

Re: WLA rear receiver
curse you lack of an edit button...
Anyways, would it be legal to have the cuts made on the stampings, and drill locations centerpunched by somebody, and then shipped to me as a non-receiver, while i drill it, and weld it together? Its not the drilling that bothers me, just the cutting.

Re: WLA rear receiver
the latter sounds a little close to an actual RECEIVER to me. Im not sure what the hell were going to do. The prospect of finding a receiver that doesnt require an expert machinist or welder is looking rather grim. Im most likely going to buy up the last few parts that i need to build my m53 and the mg3 clone and wait to see if theres a genius that wants to make a helluva lotta money out there somewhere. If someone would but come up with a 80-90% receiver and keep it open to everyone he would make serious bank. Im not going to to the brp because i dont want to be in the "begging for an inch of metal" crowd. That manufacturing quip seems stupid to me. Why in the hell would you make a receiver thats short an inch of metal. Its rather useless. ok im pissed and im going to bed
Re: WLA rear receiver
Never go to bed mad-it causes bad dreams! At least that is what the doctors told me! Get the WLA rears, they can't be that bad.Or look for an original-I still think they are the way to go-original specs, all the parts, holes all drilled, slots all there,no more welding than the 'halves and fronts',and historically accurate.Add it all up,and add the extra time if you have to pay someone to help. Now go back to sleep and think happy thoughts! ---bil

Re: WLA rear receiver
I have to say keep checking Gunbroker, there were some very low priced receivers selling last week, some of the other stuff the seller was selling was relatively cheap eg., an FMP G3 kit went for only $280; a collapsible stock G3 parts kit went for around $300.
A more expensive, but still fair deal for today’s prices is:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =111307903
I am sure the receiver needs filler and possibly a new lower buffer tab but playing the waiting game can get stressful.
Sorry Michael J, I know that will not help you. Go to www.IOinc.us and talk with Dave see what he can do as to exporting.
Furthermore I hate to sound like a scavenger but as us plebeians reap the great “benefits†of trickle down economics along with inflation/weak dollar, you will see more people forced to part with their parts kits that they have been storing. It gets hella-cold in the Northern parts of the US and you cannot pay your mortgage, heating bills, and taxes, etc with parts kits sitting in the closet. I know three guys at the range that are actually planning on parting with some to have cash for Christmas, so be vigilant and have patience, hopefully something will come your way before we get screwed with stupid legislation

Re: WLA rear receiver
That kit has some rough cuts and grinder gouges, but is still fixable.Take a yugo kit, find and built a rear half, buy and install a repair bushing-the price doesn't look too bad at all. There have been better kits for a bit more lately.I stopped selling stuff for Christmas when I sold a 34 Ford roadster so my kids could have Christmas-someone got a great deal,my kids got some real nice stuff they got tired of before the day was over, and I got socks and underwear! No deal there! Now I look for the suckers selling the goodies ,and to hell with the presents! ---bil

Re: WLA rear receiver
Eh, i don't like reaping the benefits from those that have lost out, but the low prices are awful tempting... I suppose i can just wait it out until Christmas-time (not too far away), and if people need to rid of some of their hobby parts, i may as well swoop in. Although, i pay like +23% for taxes across the border! It';s almost like i pay the original price . 23% doesent sound too bad, until you go out and buy a nearly $500 parts kit, and pay $100+ to my damn government...

Michael J., that customs fee is steep,
“Bil†a 34 Ford Roadster, man that must have been really nice.
Any old cars up there in Vermont in old barns long forgotten about, or has Vermont become like upstate NY where people from Jersey, NYC, and even the Amish have consumed all the old fallow farms they can find?

Re: WLA rear receiver
we have a set of wise lite receiver parts and will start building it shortly. a tutorial will follow. we will also be building guns from these if feasable. they will be registered receivers, no 80%, so don't even ask. we expect to have our 07 in the next 2 weeks.
Re: WLA rear receiver
Will you sell "receiver building kits"? essentially the stampings + whatever other parts necessary to complete the rear, as APEX is just overwhelming with parts i don't know if i should buy or not lol.Pirate wrote:we have a set of wise lite receiver parts and will start building it shortly. a tutorial will follow. we will also be building guns from these if feasable. they will be registered receivers, no 80%, so don't even ask. we expect to have our 07 in the next 2 weeks.

We don't sell the parts, Apex has them in stock.
