Trubute to this Forum - from Great Britain
Hello,
I've not been in a position to post as much as I want on this forum, partially due to work and the restrictive laws in the UK - about firearms etc.
I would like to share with you a few pics of some unique MG-42's.
Unique I hear you ask, well they are ZIB Wallhanger convertion's, for airsoft - the closest I can get to actually shooting something out of the barrel, unlike the de-activated MG42/MG-3 or Yugo's I could buy but not convert.
They ain't perfect, but will be improved along the way - charging handles, front/rear sights etc.
Hope you aren't to offended at posting these pic's, since they aren't official 'real' MG-42's
We(my friend and I) have been provided with a huge amount of information from this site and wanted to share the 'fruits of our labor' lol
My MG-42 is the one with the Black Drum Mag, Pete's is the one with the Green Drum.
Hopefully you'll enjoy?

Those are both very nice!!Thank you for the kind words and for sending the pics.Although we don't get many airsoft folks here,it is good to see another side of the hobby, and you make do with what you've got-there are a few guys here working on 'gas guns' fired by propane for re-enactments.Nice work by both of you!! ---bil

Bil,
thanks for the comments, this site has been an inspiration to me and Pete - info wise, photowise, other resources etc.
I know that we would both love to have real steel semi-auto or gas versions, but as you are aware there are restrictions over here (United Kingdom).
After some more tweaking, adding the items we want etc -charging handles, replacing the barrel change-out levers, sights etc, I'll get some more pics added.

Do what you can to enjoy the MG-42, even an airsoft one.. .
No, do MORE than that. Go out and get active in local politics to GET YOUR GUN RIGHTS BACK!

It's been a while since I have fired military firearms.
The last time was a couple of M9's and an M16A2 - thanks to a couple of US Marines based at a radar station in Scotland.
Getting back our guns in the UK will be one hell of an uphill struggle, but I know a few people, already within the political infrastructure that I can talk too.
I am in a position, where I might be able to 'up sticks and move' to the other side of the 'big pond' lol, so in 12-18 months I can start to buy/fire some real firearms, if everything worked out.
thanks for your comments, hopefully one day I'll have 2 MG-42's in my gun rack

OK, I have a partial dummy, how do you make an airsoft? Specifically, how about the connectivity and functionality of the trigger and cocking slide? How much welding and fabrication was required?
If you've done this before, would you sell a kit to make one airsoft?

Those ladies look really nice...........MG's are sooooo photogenic !
Even if it's airsoft - enjoy it........the massiveness and the weight alone puts a on my face.

I'll write up a doc at the weekend - based on what we have done with a repro wallhanger.
After that it's up to you.
