Actually,I am!I am still fooling with the FCG,the bolt and rails are all set up,the bolt slides nicely and locks up,unlocks and slides right back!I don't mind if I don't get one of these,I have enough stuff for a while-unless I see something I 'need'.Although I do have my eyes on a '15 air-cooled kit! ---bil

The one in the lower pics looks good! Maybe there are some good ones in this batch. ---bil

I called Centerfire today to order a kit, figuring it would be a cheaper way to get the missing small parts for my German kit. Magnus said they have none on hand for sale and that those in house were filling orders from February and March. He did say that the backorder list was now empty (ie everyone on the list is getting one). He said that he couldn't imagine that everyone on the "to be filled" list would still want a kit and figured I could have one on the way in a day or two. That said, I'm now number one on the waiting list...until someone cancels their order or they get more kits.

My Centerfire kit came in with a barrel shroud with the cam holes. I haven't had time to clean it up yet but the kit looks good so far.

So bolex you going start #2 here pretty soon? I'm thinking the BRP stampings whould be better with these shrouds since they have the camming section.

Why do you guys buy so many kits? Just to resell it and make more money or what? I bought 3 kits way back and made one rifle out of 3 and left few extra parts and sold the rest of the stuff so what the big feeding frenzy about having multiple kits? You can't even find cheap 8mm anymore.

just like the 8mm , soon cheap parts will be gone. so if anything wears out you'll be paying the same $ for a part or 2 as you did for an entire spare kit today.

I bought mine from Centerfire in February thinking I would build it when my Coldsteel receiver came in. My receiver came in (6 weeks later) and no kit so I bought one on gunbroker from MGS for $220 (April/May?) and used it. And this week the one from coldsteel showed up. My receiver is completed so I will check out the parts and pick the best of the two kits and use them.

hakentt,

I think most people have multiple kits because they had a three pack deal going a while back. Another reason is you may get one good part out of three packs. For example I got one great barrel out of three, one great booster nozzle, ect. ect. Not to mention they were cheap.

I bought the 3-pack deal and sold one, the other 2 get built.
I'm not following the idea of using the best parts for one build.
They were all predominately matching #'s.

This is indeed good news, and would explain why my wife is pissed off back at home while I'm in iraq...LOL>

I had 3 on back order from feb, and just ordered another one yesterday from MGS. They said they had about 25 left in stock...

I ordered one last Thursday and was on the wait list. My kit arrived Monday! It too is cut like those pictured. Mine has no German parts. It was missing the recouperator bolts and the rear sight. The barrel is usable. The rest of the parts show wear, but are usable. To my surprise, the butt stock wood is curly. I wish it would fit on my German gun.

Well...I received mine today & it is NOT cut like the pics with part of the camming section. As a matter of fact the whole kit is the sorriest piece of crap I've ever received as akit. The one I got from them a few months ago was a beaut. Pam said these were being called " Excellent" ??? The barrel is worse than the worst Yugo Ak kit I have ,and I have a PILE of those.
I've stuck with Centerfire longer than most. But.............................maybe not much longer.
DAMN. I HATE getting a big letdown when opening the box!! :(

That's disappointing.
I usually call on my gambling instincts if I order from them.
They are pretty good about return items though.

Well...I'm the easiest going kit buyer I know of. I just consider all of this stuff as military surplus & it's cool just for being that.
I just had my expectation too high I guess, what with other guys getting better cut shrouds & Pam saying they were calling them excellent. She said she would consider them more like very good. I guess I could have spent $350.00 else where and got the same thing. So I won't lose any sleep over it. I've never returned a kit to anyone. I'll just delete my post & offer it for sale with no pictures!
If I called this barrel a sewer pipe, it would be an insult to my septic system
It will look better in the morning.

To be fair..I have not tried to clean the barrel yet. Some of my Yugo AK's turned out fairly nice after some aggressive cleaning. It's just very FUGLY now.

I need to get an 8mm brush to clean my centerfire barrel bore, the 30 cal isn't cutting it and I have no idea where the 9mm walked off to. The outside of the barrel is clean and it looks like the bore will clean up when I get the stuff out of the lands. Much better looking than the MGS barrel I got in April/May time frame.

I just received my kit from centerfire today that I ordered a couple days ago and the camming section is intact. The kit is in pretty good condition. The barrel needs a good cleaning but overall i'm pleased. They even gave me small pieces of the receiver like the bottom buffer lug area in the rear part of the receiver.

Well, I have to say centerfire gets an A+ for customer service! I had 3 kits on backorder since feb, and with everyone receiving theirs I thought I'd email them and check on the status of mine. I'm currently in Iraq, and apparently they tried to call and verify that I wanted them still but I did not call back, well because I'm in iraq...lol.
Long story short, they offered me the last two that they had, and I said yes! Then a few hours later they told me one more was available, so I got all three like I wanted. That gives me 5 kits total, perfect for 2 post samples and one semi + 2 spare kits!

I'm real easy too on kits, I figure it's going to be shot to hell and back and look crummy, but you know, a crummy looking 42/53 kit is still better than no 42/53 kit!
Now when I get home, I'll report back on those kits plus the MGS $350.00 kit I ordered (two days before centerfire shipped these kits) out of desperation....
