can someone post pictures of the front, rear and inside of these bushings?
id like to see the keyways.
Barrel bushing ?
Jet... the keyways, look to be made with an EDM process, not a broach, as they do not go all the way through and there isn't a releif cut at the bottom so they wern't cut with a key way cutter either. There are four key ways, two diferant sizes, (three of one size, one of the other) If nobody post pics I will try to get some up in the next day or two.

Good call on the EDM process being used on the "barrel bushing".Little Rhody wrote:Jet... the keyways, look to be made with an EDM process, not a broach, as they do not go all the way through and there isn't a releif cut at the bottom so they wern't cut with a key way cutter either. Tony,
I assume you place "barrel bushing" in quotation marks because it's actually the BARREL BUSHING SLEEVE? (The barrel bushing is a different part.) The Weaponeer group buy called it a "replacement barrel bushing sleeve," while your invoice called it a "repair bearing." I wonder what the German armorer's manual calls it? (jbaum?)
I mention this only because there are a bunch of new folks on the board, and one of the most confusing things facing somebody just starting the MG42/M53 addiction is that so many people call the same part by different -- sometimes wrong -- names.
I got so confused that I asked for somebody -- anybody -- to make a sticky with the correct part names. Naturally, John Baum obliged. I keep a copy of John's parts list close at hand when I post so that I don't call a part the wrong name. Sometimes I do it anyway! . Anybody who hasn't found the parts list sticky can find it here:

If John can tell us what the armorer's manual calls it I will make a note on my parts list and try to make a habit of calling it by one name.

" The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government . . . . When the people fear their government there is tyranny, when the government fear the people, there is liberty." Thomas Jefferson
This is a good point. It is tough to locate the proper/formal name of a part that is normally welded into a larger asembly. I have struggled a lot with naming conventions! For instance, is it the front of the receiver, the barrel shroud or barrel jacket that is included with the Yugoslavian M53 sets?gdmoore28 wrote:Tony,

Often I try and use the common name or what something is called at the beginning of the thread!
Creat a list/guide and I will use it. I sure like the idea of a reference that we all call a "standard".
