 Wow! A solid stock .50BMG bolt-action rifle? Nice looking rifle, but how's the recoil on that?

WOW! Good job, it looks so nice! Broaching the raceways; what is that? Also, nice .50 cal.

broaching refers to cutting the 4 slots in the bearing... Took some tinkering, but got it done in the mill manually

looks good. your camera should have a macro function.. it would make the up close pics clearer. do you have any internal pics i'm intrested to see how the raceways came out

I like the 50... gunmetal plans? did you happen to post pics of the 50 on homegunsmith.com it looks familiar

Ok drooling idiot, another question.... where exactly do I put the 1/16 spacer? i am confued on that part. does it go between the end of the barrel, and the bearing? I also take it the bearing will be at it's most forward position in the bushing, being thrust fully forwrd?

nice .50 gary.

i think he was meaning to put the spacer inside the barrel bearing before you tack welded it,please correct me if im wrong drooling idiot.

gary, did you cut the slots with a 6mm broach or do it another way?
ive been trying to find another way to cut these without buying the 6mm broach and bushing to go with it.

Well I broached it with a 3/16 HSS cutter bit. I put the bushing in my mill's vise. Next I put my 1/2 inch lathe boring bar in my 1/2 mill collet ( R-8) After edge finding and centering, it was a lot of stroking the quill handle up and down ( times 4!) to cut the slots. I moved the table left and right to achieve the correct width....crude, but it worked! i was too lazy to grind down a 1/4" bit to proper width, but the bearing will still only insert in the proper orientation, which is a nice added bonus!

Gary

you got it , you need just a little play between the barrels muzzle and the max OAL of the barrel bearing so that the barrels collar hits the barrel stop (in the shroud) before any force can be directed onto the little guide/index numbs of the barrel bearing which would quickly destroy them.

Can you make me one of these (#3)?
garyh

Post by garyh »

I can make parts # 3 but they are a pain in th but! mainly the braoching is what sucks! Demon trooper wants on too. The biggest problem I have with making them, is they may not fit your forward reciever/barrel shroud??
Am I wrong on this, or did the germans, and slovaks keep things "tight". I would hate to make you guy's parts and not have them fit!

There is a buy on weaponeer.net for these. Check it out. They need another 20 more orders before they start making them.

I would like to know what you think? They are wanting $100 each
