Angola Kits
Angola Kits
Good Morning all, My name is Jorge, I'm ready to buy an MG42 kit. I read your threads and contacted Dan. I believe I'm going to go with him...My question, Dans kits have some ww2 parts, But 308 cal. barrels. Has anyone built one of his kits? Is there any problem using the mixed parts? Other than small fitting issues. Do they have any nice ww2 WaA markings? Thank you all Great site to those have put in the effort and God Bless America on Memorial Day...
There were a few parts missing in my kit....small springs, and pins.... and the butstock was nasty, but I
didn't know this until the project got underway, and the guy doing the welding contacted me about these
things. So, I emailed dan, and that very night he emailed me back, and wanted my mailing address so he
could get the stuff out to me. You just can't find a better individual to deal with. Others out there will not
acknowledge email, or phone calls once they have your cash!!
Besides dan himself, the products are good usable kits that I feel have enough metal at torched cut intesections.
His recievers have 3 wacks taken to them. They are in places where you're able to line the reciever up nicely with
other parts. The reciever, feed tray, barrel are all post War, everything else looks ww2, and top cover an 8mm ( I was told). I have
no Waffenampt markings on anything but the Reciever ...marked with DbA and eagle
Ak47 has mentioned that the IO company sells a 4 cut reciever kit (in 8mm) , and the cuts are 'finer', leaving more metal to
make your weld connection. I think their kits are 100. more than dan's.
good luck, and welcome................

Thank you Skip, thanks Dennis. I appreciate your time and info. Have any of you built an IO kit? I assume IO is interordnance. I'm sure I'll be looking for help in the future...One last question if you had to choose between kits, would you choose an IO kit or Dan's kit, and would you choose 8mm or .308 ? Any word on BRP kits? Thanks again, Jorge.

forget brp they are useless over priced kits that DO NOT include the whole reciever, with the mods you need to do having a post war grip makes no difference cause you lose the waffens when you mod it and if you want to run links you need the mg3 top cover(which i think loks the same outside) so you are left with the booster and a wood butt to have it look ww2
I think the only true 100% ww2 kits are alegehny arsonal (where mine came from)and I wouldn't go there they destroy the rec. beyond use, also brp but like I said you only get a partial rec.
besides from what I have seen posted it is a crap shoot with the parts from anyone but dan plus dan mkes it rite if there is a problem

IF your a gambling man, The I/O kits may be your cup-o-tea....but ANYTHING you buy from I/O is a RISK....they are NOTORIOUS for screwing people...I've been screwed twice...never again. The last time was weaponeers MG-42 group buy...WWII 8mm kits...my "premo" kit was missing ALL the front site parts, Yugo bolt, postwar feed tray, a stock that was made by a 5th grader, missing recouperator parts and no buffer latch, firing pin or various springs...
I/O just keeps giving the run around...parts on the boat, parts in customs, parts still in Europe....what parts?...what kit?...you need to speak with someone else...I'm no longer in charge of that department....they wear you down with excuses....
Dan is EXECELLENT and stands behind what he sells...he returns emails and phone calls and is a good HONEST guy...unlike the criminals at I/O...
If you like to gamble...I/O has a deal you for you...If you only have enough money for one kit...DAN is the way to go!

Dan is the man, I will only deal with him. I appreciate learning from your experiences, I will not doubt same time and money. I will keep you all posted as I am taking the first steps. Fortunately I have some machining experience and some experience building some G3's , fals and a couple of AK's and this site to help along the way.......Thanks for the time......Happy Hunting.
IO
IO sent me a "WW2 MG42" that did not say anything on the receiver for a s/n but 4 numbers(no "MG42"), was 3 different receivers and a mix of post and pre parts.Only the trunnion was WW2...and broken, plus the trunnion slide-in piece was post war and did not fit!.Everyone says Dan is the man, so only he will get my $$ in the future.
Never give a sucker an even break, unless that sucker can break you in even halves!
http://www.robertrtg.com/mg.html ... for what you mentioned
Your going to need an 8mm feed tray, barrel, and booster parts.
I seen these available at
http://www.centuryarms.com
http://www.interordnance.com/Merchant2/ ... DNANCE.com
I Think you'll need an 8mm top cover, but I think Angola's is an 8....at least that's what my
welder told me, that it would work both calibers.
I bought some links that are ww2 = waff markings. Anyhow, I believe this too is 8mm.... the 308 was TIGHT.
And I've noticed other links being sold 'indicate' either,or........ so be specific in your link collection for calibers
If I'm wrong...... someone will chime shortly.
Let us know how things come along.

Re: angola
I am working on an IO kit. Like Dennis says they are cut nicely and line up fairly easy. Mine is a 1942 dated 4cut receiver.stifeout wrote:Thank you Skip, thanks Dennis. I have never had problems with IO in any of the items I ordered from them over the years. Not saying that I disbelieve those who have, but overall they have been decent to me. I didnt get my kit via a group buy.

Guten Morgen Tom, I agree most is a craps shoot. Info from folks like yourself is invaluable. I've dealt with robert rtg and now with Dan..I'm very pleased so far with both. My only concern is the reciever, I hope I get a nice one . I'm a decent welder and Ive got a buddy who's real good with tig. , I asked Dan to take his time and find a nice one I said I'd gladly pay a little more. He said no need to. So I'll wait and see. Tom, I'm sourcing an MG34 kit right now , even if I build it later. It seems this well has to run dry eventually. Would you agree? Have a good day..Jorge

Good to see you around these parts....IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT I own a 42 kit and want get it running.....!!!! Curse YOU!!!!! The ONLY good thing outta that weaponeer group buy was that I ended up HERE!!! I've spent about $200 EXTRA to make up for all the missing and (Try a different word.) parts I/O unloaded on us!!! I KNEW better but I failed to follow my own advice and give I/O a wide berth!!!
Anyway, we have people like Robert and Dan who actually want to help and want our RETURN business!! Hope to see you around here more often!!

BW,
Thanks for the welcome.
I've said this so many time that it sounds like a recording but I want to say it again in case someone missed it. I deeply apologize for the way the group buy turned out. I really wanted it to be something to be proud of. Guys like you are the reason we work so hard. To watch you guys get screwed by a vendor really is heart breaking for all of us at Weaponeer. Again I am sorry.
I'm glad you were able to find this site but honestly it doesn't make me feel any better about the way that buy transpired. You haven't seen the last of the MG42 group buys but you may very well have seen the last of the IO mg42 group buys. We've hooked up with some truly good vendors. One of which you already mentioned.
Thanks for hanging in there with us.
