Post by toolbox82 »

Can the mg3 308 belt loaders that are selling for <150.00 be used to load 8mm?
Thanks,
Carl

I have seen somewhere that you can make a larger hopper and it will work btw sportsman guide $89 and cheaper with club discount

Belt Loader

I have thought about modifying mine I bought from Sportsmans Guide, but have not done anything yet.

My thoughts were to cut one of the Hopper End Caps off, clean up the steel from the End Cap, welding an etension onto the Hopper body and reweld the End Cap back on. It is mundane work when I can load a belt so fast by hand anyway, but it would be neat to load them with the loader. Too many projects now to work on this one, but soon it will happen.

Does anyone know how drastic the differences are between the Wartime model and the .308 version? I almost bid on one on ebay (Gurtfuller 34), but spent too much elsewhere to pay $700.

The post war loader is sort of close in appearance to the gurtfuller 34, I would prefer the fuller 41 i dosent need to be mounted to operate.
