the seller is ammotogo, lots of good feedback. Here's his ad:
You are bidding on 45 rounds of original German 8mm Mauser black tip armor piercing tracer ammo. It has a true hardened steel core and will trace a super bright daylight trace. This ammo was manufactured in 1938 and has been in a sealed tin ever since, it was just removed from the sealed tin, so it is surefire ammo. We shot some of this ammo and it all fired and traced. The ammo comes in the original German military 15rd. box. This ammo is in great shape and so are the boxes. This stuff has been really hard to get in recent years, and we have a limited supply. If you want some really cool ammo to shoot or collect for your 8mm Mauser, get this ammo while you can. Thanks for your interrest and please check out our other auctions.
I have no affiliation.

Shooting German made WWII ammunition..
Some time back on another forum I read a discussion about shooting STEEL CASED WWII German ammo. The long story short was don't do it. The reason is that the steel cases are rusting from INSIDE out. Doesn't matter how well sealed, it has to do with the powder and moisture that was trapped when loaded. No way to tell the condition of the casing from the outside until the rust eats through (sometimes tiny dots of rust show on the outside, under the laquer).
From what I read there have been some pretty ugly case disintergrations.
Obviously it isn't ALL Steel Cased German WWII ammo, but no one has been able to peg what maker/lot/year or the most probable to have this problem.
Good stuff to collect, but there is better stuff to shoot!
