M53 PARTS KITS?

Post by blckwlfny »

does anyone have any feelings about th yugo m53 parts kits available now? I was intending to purchase one for spare parts and was wondering if they were worth it (specifically the barrel, bolt and firing pin assembly)

also does anyone have any experience with any of the following:
Florida Gun Works
Centerfire Systems
Keystone arms
JB arms

thanks

If you need a spare parts set you better get it. People are buying these damn things up too. It has everything you need to shoot 8mm.

hope this helps

Check my post on Southern Ohio Guns Yugo m53 kits. Total up the prices for all the individual parts less cut receiver and they'll total far more than SOG's $249.95 price tag. You aren't getting the whole cut receiver, just one piece. You are getting all other parts, ie: Gripstick, buttstock and buffer, bolt assembly, rails, main spring, barrel, bipod, sights, recuperator, etc..

I ordered 6. I got 4 sewer pipe barrels and two almost new barrels. Two recoup assemblies were damaged, two were missing the front anchor bolt and nut. Two top coveres were bent badly, one was missing the springs. Camming pieces were OK. The bolts looked like they were rebuilt with newish parts, but all six bolt faces were badly erroded and pitted. All the firing pin holes were oversize, which, unlike the full auto guns, will probably not present a problem. The bolt faces are in bad shape. Got three illuminated rear sight assy's, one front. Three bipods were badly bent, but could be straightened. Two blast cones were corroded beyond being useable, unless you weld and recut the muzzzle hole. Ballance of the parts, except the buffer locking plates, were OK. If you luck out and get one with a nice barrel, it is more than worth the cost. Be advised that you cannot count on getting that "one" part you might need, in perfect shape, unless you buy at least four kits. On the up side, half my kits were resold before they even arrived at a good mark-up. I did not contact SOG to see if they would replace the barrels, but my feeling is that they probably will not, and I don't have a problem with that, myself. I had no expectation the barrels would be minty. Just an FYI post.

SOG is a Distributor for Century International Arms. Century is one of the few actual importers of firearms and processes MG's into parts sets. So, pretty safe bet that M53's from SOG are the same stuff Century sells.

FGW- stay away stay far away. they will charge your card and forget to send you parts
CFS- usually good to deal w/ i have purchased a lot from them and i was satisified w/ all of it

I haven't dealt w/ the other two. I'f you wanted to you could order directly from Century. AFAIK they are the only ones importing the m53 kits that everyone is selling

I just received my two kits. I was kind of bummed out because of missing parts. But I guess everything that is missing I can make. One barrel was in good to great condition and the other one was a sewer pipe. Is it ok to shoot barrels that have surface pitting inside the barrel just for blasting.

i got my kit from sog! my kit had the wrong bipod, mg34, bolt was missing some parts, called them and sent bolt and bipod back for exchange, recieved different bolt and the right bipod! take some hoppes number 9 and some good copper cutter and scrub the hell out of your barrel, i put a patch through mine and let rhe hoppes or copper cutter soak in the barrel for a few days, run a clean patch through it and run wet patch through! everytime i do this i still get copper and dirt out of my barrel but it doesnt look like a sewer pipe anymore! just my $.02 cents! later Brian! :D

I've had great luck with JB Arms. Ordered .308 barrels two different times and recieved excellent barrels everytime. I do belive he is out of the .308 barrels though. He said when I ordered the last batch end of March that was the end of them. For what everyone else is asking his 65.00 price was a darn good deal.

I was missing all the recupator bolts, barrel forcing cone, and barrel forcing cone.
