recoil spring length
recoil spring length
How long does the recoil spring need to be? Do I cut 2" off to make up for the bolt extension? Or is there another length that works better?

I asked this question once a few months ago. I think most people will have 14 or 15 coils left after cutting. I initially had 18 coils left which was just enough for the bolt to be pulled back and eject the shell. However it was still too strong and caused slam fires. So I had to cut off a little more.
I'm not sure if a tight spring would cause slamfires, perhaps, but I don't understand how.
If the F/Pin spring cannot be overcome by anything but a strong FCG, then it wouldn't apply (right pirate?)
however, I was told to trim the recoil spring till I was just able to pull the bolt back(with a forceful jerk) and get an
ejected shell. .
