Is there anything special about the front sight pins? Mine are missing, I was considering making them out of drill rod.
And, the front nut and rear nut/bolt are missing from my recuperator. What are the front threads -- metric, or? Is generic hardware ok or am I better off buying the correct parts?
I've just about got all the parts and supplies I need to make this happen, getting the argon tank filled this weekend!
Silly little questions -- front sight pins, recuperator bolt
kmw:
I used roll pins for my front site. I guess it depends on how you want it to look. Meaning that you want the period look or you dont care how the pins you use look. Drill would be just fine because the originals I have are solid pins. I cannot remember what size of roll pins I used, will check if interested. As for the recup., the threaded foward "T" bolt was metric, around 4 or 5mm if I do recall. Hope your build goes well!

For the rear of the recuperator a standard m5 x.80 button head hex socket screw and hex nut will work fine.
The front screw has a, special ,tee shaped head. I made one by drilling and tapping a m5 x.80 thread into a chunk of 4140 steel. I then silver brazed a piece of threaded rod into the hole ,and hand filed it to finished size.
