Post by m1-dan »

Hey i have a question for you guys on some markings on my mg42 barrel and extension cause i know your good with that stuff. On the barrel Extension It has the waffenampt on it. Also has on it. kls ,ASt , 8 on the other side , ASt a , S , k with a square. On the barrel its self it has a W,BK, a star above a T, and the serial number is 1396 c. Just curious , i just looked it over and noticed the eagle on it i was happy. Thanks in Advance

Some of the stuff is pretty elementary like the kls which is the makers marking. I don't recall the maker attached to that code but I think its in Germany. On the barrel the BK is a yugo marking so its likely that they refurbed the barrel using a wartime extension. Many of the other markings are likely inspectors proofs or rework proofs. As for the eagle there should be a number under it preceded by WaA which means Waffen Amt or weapons office. The code designates the Waffen Amt inspector who was assigned to that factory. The inspectors did move occasionally and took their number with them. It is possible to check the number of the inspector to verify the factory.

There is actually no such thing as a waffenampt, at least in german useage. No need for the p.

hope that helps at least a little.

What does the BK on yugo parts stand for?
