MG42 Sling..

Post by kpaintner »

Is the MG42 and MG34 sling the same one? I see IMA has some repro 34 slings that look pretty good. If they are difference, where can a guy find one. I was also looking at IMA's repro Lafette straps...do they look correct or are there other sources?

The clip that goes on the grip of the MG34 strap is too narrow for the MG42 grip. The sling made for the MG42 will fit on the MG34.

Do a search for Lafette straps. It's all been covered before, with pictures.

I have read most of the threads on how to make them. The guys that do their own have a lot more talent and patience than I do. I was more interested in a source for reproduction lafette straps. The ones on IMA look a lot different than the ones posted on this site. Are they Yugo post war copies?

I can't say that they're copies of anything original.... post war or non-German. They'll do the job if you need to carry the lafette on your back is about all I can say for them.

Contact Frank Barone. His email is frank-barone@sbcglobal.net.

He makes the best repro lafette straps you can purchase right now. And if you provide him with the hardware, he can make you a sling. I believe there is some hardware on gun broker right now.
