Richard, on the guide plate that APEX is selling; does that have the groove for the charging handle already cut into the back of it, or does it need to have the path for the handle be milled? The photos and the description didn't say one way or the other.

Yep, same one. It's for the slab-handle, and it doesn't have the groove cut into the back of it.

Bil, did you ever run across the origins of the mighty mysterious dog-leg-less rachet plate?

The "cocking handle guide plate" that we supplied to APEX, and they have for sale, does have a slot milled along the line of the dimples. I have asked Jeff to post an image of that side of the plate on his web site. I suspect it will be a few days before it is posted as they just received ANOTHER shipment of kits/parts.

Thank you, Richard. I need to get an order in to APEX next week for one of those, and to get busy welding this poor old long-running project together. November and January are looming, and no point in waiting until the last minute.

Joker-thanks for reminding me!I got it from Robert at RTG parts,it is called 'old style ratchet plate' and was $22 buckaroos!I think he also had the 'new style' plate.I got one of them also, and it turned out I didn't need either! I have got to stop just buying stuff because there is money in my pocket-it keeps me real broke!I am counting on dying before old age!
