Who is currently using MG42s and/or versions of it?

Germany uses the MG3.
Turkey manufactures a copy in .308.
Chile uses an updated MG42
Does any part of Yugoslavia still use the '42?

Who else?

The Iraqis have some MG3s. I sold a Marines sergeant some manuals so he could train the Iraqis. The Iraqis bought them from Pakistan, so they have some too.

I believe I read that Yugoslavia sold off all their MG34's, MG42's and M53's.
They have replaced them all with PKM's.

I have this one image of a Danish Soldier next to an MG3.

I believe the Iranians still use and produce the MG3 under license. The Canadians also use them on their Leopard tanks.

That I count still active through parsing NATO data channels just now:
(listed as current deployed)
Australia-MG3 supplied on their III/IV Leopards (not for long, replaced with M1A1's)
Austria-MG74 (resident mgfr/issue), also still parts supplier MG42/59 program
Pakistan-MG3 ((resident mgfr/issue), (MG42/59 cooperative program member))
Iran-MG3 (resident mgfr/issue)
Italy ((resident mgfr/issue), (MG42/59 cooperative program member))
West Germany ((resident mgfr/issue), (MG42/59 cooperative program member))
Norway-MG3
Denmark-MG3
Itay-MG42/59 ((resident mgfr/issue), (MG42/59 cooperative program member))
Turkey-MG3 ((resident mgfr/issue), MKE mfgr
Canada-AFV use only, Leopard IV
Greece-((resident mgfr/issue), (MG42/59 cooperative program member))
Iceland-MG3
Estonia-MG42/59. MG3
Lithuania-MG42/59, M53
Portugal-((resident mgfr/issue), (MG42/59 cooperative program member))
Spain-MG3
Poland-M53, MG42/59
Chile-MG3
Cypriot Home Guard-MG3
Finland-MG3
Malta-MG42/59
Myanmar-MG3
Royal Thai Army-MG3
Switzerland-MG3, AFV use
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia-MG3
Sweden-MG3, AFV use only
Sudan-???? reportedly MG42/59

A lot of these weird countries field them only on AFV's or AFAV's which come as std equipment.

Yesterday when I researched it through NATO filings. You'll find that even though it is weird, "West Germany" is still listed correctly here because it was the entity that started the procurement program.....they merely inherited the East's defense duties when unification took hold.

as a {offical}member of the canadain forcse and as a armoured crewmen i can tell you that we dont use and never had them neither has the infantry.we use lepard 1 \2 tanks but dont mean mg3s come with .
also reserves use the same weapons as the rest of the forces .it says we use them on wikpeda but this is false as i never seen or heard of us having them..

Fair enough. but I'm sure you can understand why I would ask the question, considering how long ago its been since the reunification.

HHmmm, well, I guess I shall have to bite the bullet and either pay for an assebled MG42SA, or try my luck at a homebuild.

Switzerland don't use the MG3. We have our own self produced MG51 thats also a MG42 dirivitive.
Many parts of the MG51 are produced by machining instead of stamping, and the locking system is changed from roller to flap locking.
