That's one of those "deactivated" guns, right? I don't understand the difference in European and American laws regarding receivers, how come they need to be destroyed here, but not there where it's more possible to turn them back to working condition?

It all comes back to trust! If the countries that allow this type of demill, tells its people not to make it live they do not. In the US, the Government knows its subjects will rob a 7-11 with a rebuilt MG42, so they make it harder to rebuild. Just enforce the laws we have (Do NOT make new laws!)

If Heller goes our way, it could be a WHOLE new ballgame.

There is a different thought process in Europe, that is the government gives you permission to do/own everything. Goes back to the time where the kings owned everything and gave to the peasants.

In the US the goverment regulates us by saying "NO", we have the right to do anything (constitution) until some regulation/law is made. Some things were spelled out (Bill of Rights) to limit the government regulation/control. We do not (should not) ask permission to own firearms, it is already our right, the government can regulate but not forbid firearm ownership.

It will be interesting what comes out of the court case.

My two cents

Im going to bet that alot of people on both sides will be disappointed when the S. court rules. I see em saying something like "militia's are state run, so we leave this to the individual states to enact gun laws." So the federal laws may go away but the states will immediately enact all current laws at the state level. Of course if a state fails to enact these laws the federal gov will do the old withholding highway funds till the state does. That is how all states got a 21 yr drinking age. La was the last hold out but lost out on alot of $$ till they changed to 21.

the inception of the militia, it was a conscious act to volunteer, knowing full well you were under no obligation and could remove yourself at any time,ie farmers returning to their fields. the national guard wasn't formed until the begining of the last century, it in no way operates as a militia and is under the direction of the standing army and the governer of the state were units are centered. plan simple wording our forefathers dictated . the militia are the people at general, unbound, but at the ready
