Was the flash hider assembly redesigned in the MG3?
I have seen pictures of the MG3 assembly and it looks like instead of a recoil nozzle, booster and flash hider, there are only two parts, like the booster and recoild nozzle are combined.
This is the new, funky looking MG3 flash hider.
I have seen .308 assemblies that are three part, those used the "MG42 Looking" flash hider.

If the recoil nozzle was eliminated, then it would be possible to use just the MG3 parts on an SA42. But what size oriface is used in the MG3 recoil booster in place of the recoil nozzle?

The orifice diamter isn't listed in the MG3 manual, and my 42 is original, so I don't have a clue.

Would the 10.8mm be to small to reasonabley run both 308 and 8mm through it?

......another item/part that was changed on the MG3 was the Flash-Hider "catch-diameter". The older version for the MG-42 is wider and will not fit into the smaller notches cut into the MG3 Flash-Hider.
