New Centerfire Flyer?

I just got the new Centerfire flyer and there is no mention of the Century M53. I checked their site and it is still listed as "backorder".
Is there a delay?
Centerfire does sometimes list things they never get. They had a G3 clone listed all last year for $500 built on a new steel receiver. I was on the list most of the year before Centerfire finally admitted they were never getting any of them.

Yup, that pretty much sums up the M53 project.
If they get any at all it will be a very limited run.
I have heard rumors as to why they keep having trouble.....but they are just rumors.

Is there anything to the "There will only be 20 guns made" rumor?
I would think the tooling and such would be WAY too expensive for only 20 guns.

They just took my backorder for 3 kits today at the $199.00 price. I've had pretty good luck with them and backorders. Everytime I've ordered kits on backorder, I've always gotten them.

Ok this is ONLY RUMOR MILL:
A guy I deal with local "talks" with someone within Wiselite on a semi-constant basis.
According to him, they are having trouble with reconstructing the receiver. The welds mating the existing M53 Front half with their proprietary rear receivers are off alignment and have unusable shrinkage. He says that they have racks of raw receivers and only one or two out of the bunch will gauge within useable spec.
I'm sure they can pull off 20 guns (good luck getting one) but I personally believe that 200 will be a stretch....though I would LOVE to be proven wrong.
This I know for a fact: It is all about the details in bringing these guns back to life.
You have to give them a little love too! :-P

Yep. This ain't an AK that you can just throw together. It can be done but it's going to take some major tweaking. I still want to see what Coldsteel has produced.

From what I have read, Coldsteel is not set up for major quantity production. That may be totally wrong, but I picked that up in a recent thread.

Coldsteel is a 2 person operation. That much is true.
How much they are able to crank out? Who knows?

I got to see the Century M53 at Shot this year and I posted that I thought it would be hard to mass produce this firearm, in the way they are. When we build these guns it takes alot of fine tuning just to get a few shots off, let alone a complete belt. The looks of the M53 did not impress me. I hope they get it right though.

If the SA53 projects don't pan out, I'd bet there will be a large number of receiver sections that will need homes -- not to mention all the M53 kits that have been held back for possible production.
I think everybody would like to see the SA53 projects succeed, but the fact that apparently NONE have been delivered surely doesn't bode well.
As for Centerfire, I've been waiting for missing parts and another parts kit for a LONG time.
I'm surprized they are still taking orders. But, they've been good to me so far.

Gosh, I love a good "Urban Myth". Funny though, usually they are based on SOME facts.
Only comment I can ad is "KCR"..........

I don't see any way they can only make 20 of these-the production costs would be overwhelming! I am still fitting parts to mine, and they actually belong to the gun.I don't see how they could spent that amount of time to get it right, and still come in anywhere near the price advertised.I wonder if the receiver problems stem from the differances between the 42/53 receivers? I had never realized there was such a dif until PM posted pics the other day,and I compared and measured both guns. The difs are all in the section in front of the cam section, where it would be hard to make it look right. It will work, but it just doesn't look right. As for production costs, except for the BATF regulations, there are people here that could build 20 of these in a reasonable time, using German cut receivers and the proven mods that exist.I am surprised that someone hasn't done so. I would like to dee their project come off,but I wouldn't want to be waiting for one.It may be a while. With Knob Creek coming up real soon,it will be interesting if they have a big presence there. This could be the place to make it or break it.Good luck to them. ---bil

I heard that the goobermint has some aliens in a refrigerator in area 51 and that janet reno is really one butt ugly guy in drag!!
believe what you want.
personally I believe that a bunch of rocket scientists with a high teck shop in texas is the ones to put your $$$ on not a couple of guys in a garage in Florida.
I have some parts form Wise lite here, and there are pictures posted in the cam section thread, The sheet metal will knock your socks off, anyone who can produce parts like that is not going to have a proiblem with some welding.

I wonder if ONLY RUMOR MILL has every build anything then duplicated it? It's going to happen.
Soon.

There are no alien bodies at Area 51. They're in Washington and are now Congress critters.
I'm still waiting for a Colsteel receiver to appear. I'm beginning to wonder if the second coming of Christ will occur first however. Which reminds me. Happy Easter.

I would have to agree with PIrate-That Janet Reno is one butt-ugly person, even if she really is a guy!--No,wait-the othe r thing-If the receiver thing can be pulled off,I think it will be by wise-lite.The product they already have, and the facility availlable give them a big head start. The receiver part I agree with, whether Century can make it into a reliable, well built gun for around $2500 is where I am not so sure.I hope they can,and I hope it happens soon. Then I hope someone starts making 8mm ammo ,too
