What is the current going price for parts kits + full receiver parts?

It seems the last ones I saw went for about $1500.

The full kits haven't been moving as well lately. Don't know why, but I think people are running out of gun money?

A few guys on this board had their kits up for sale, but I don't know if they sold or not.

SoG kit + IMA receiver + Weaponeer barrel guide sleeve = 98% complete MG42
$250 + $135 + $100 = $485

The only missing 2% of this kit will be the 1/2 inch of cut out cam peice that can be made out of some sheet metal and built up weld.

this build is hard enough with a full kit that 1/3 ( rough guess) of the guys who have started it quit and shelved it or resold their stuff . it can be done the way your saying but I'd guess too many would be scared off before trying it that way.

Yeah, guns never sell over the summer. Don't really know why.

Too hot to shoot?

It's been too hot to weld in my garage until lately, that's for sure.

I'm going with Demontrooper's method. I've got everything but the nose piece, and I'm in on the GB on weaponeer for that.

Yeah well stearmandriver is doing it, I am doing it, and so is MGmike. As parts become more and more scarce, the road to the final destination becomes harder and harder to traverse. I agree that this is more difficult, but there is no other method today that does not rely upon lucking across complete "old-style" kits from private sellers. In 10 years, you will see people talking on this forum about making complete receivers out of sheet metal and other methods that today would seem like utter nonsense.

Deamontrooper's right, this isn't going to get any easier, as long as the Gummint doesn't want us to have our playthings.

But, it's still just sheetmetal fabrication. And the best we can hope for is that BRP will make another run of new reciever parts.

unless the current trend changes and kits that can be rebuilt by "average joes" become available again this site will start to dwindle down as the kits floating around dry up and the pool of guys willing to put the increasing amounts of money and effort into it shrinks.

eventually this site will turn into a ghost town and die unless we can get more 42 kits or expand into other kits that are available.

No, I disagree. Humans are like cockroaches, you cannot kill us or our resolve. We will find new ways; which may include making complete receivers out of sheet metal! But I do look forward to visiting this ghost town in 20 years if it so happens to be.

2 months ago I bought what I thought were the last kits ever from FTF (they had the only ones on the entire Internet in this country!) Then suddenly SOG and MGS have a whole bunch from I don't know where. But I would agree with none123, and just buy them now if you can.

Unless the rules change, no more kits like the current ones will be coming in. Barrels and ANY receiver pieces are being stopped by customs.

What you are seeing now are kits that either were in customs warehouses when the ban went down or distributors were sitting on them.

There could be more kits sitting in warehouses in the US, but don't expect cheap prices. Further kits will probably be released a few at a time, as the valued price increases.

The prices we saw back in the winter were probably the low point ever, price wise.

To kick a dead horse all that’s left is all there is since the UN lifted the Balkans Arms embargo back in 2001. The Balkans region has flooded the market with their captured 42s and in house 53s. Hence all the cheap parts kits, their poor and the US is the international dumping ground of junk arms and ammo. I heard a pretty reliable rumor that IO had a large multi million shipment of parts kits and they had all the proper and filed documents but when they hit Italian national waters they were hit and lost everything. Italians didn’t care that the paper work was approved by their own ‘pizzaria’. Mind you rumor. When the Democrats take the house it’ll only get much worse and the ATF will be up to the old Clinton antics to impress the party that’ll let em lose. So there are a lot of big booger men that don’t want you to get your parts, might be more then expensive tomorrow, if not illegal.

NO how many times must i say this ,,,,,, there has been NO change in how the BATFE feels about receivers . that is 100% BS created to sell kits at inflated prices.
receiver sections properly demilled are still 100% A-OK to be imported and resold to anyone in the general public , hell :burn: felons can legally own a demilled mg42 kit that was imported just yesterday . all sorts of kits can be brought in still as long as the barrel was demilled to the "new" specs.

there is a fear among distributors about being persecuted by the BATFE for selling all the receiver sections but it is in no way, shape, or form illegal. that combined with no availible supply of 42s is the problem facing builders not the law or the new interpertation of it.
