Received a Yugo M53 kit from Southern Ohio Guns. The nice looking kit arrived double-boxed within a week. Contained nearly all parts except some small pins. Included decent 8mm barrel and bipod. Receiver piece was cut at trunnion and thru muzzle threads. That's the only piece of receiver included. Price was $249.95 plus shipping. They'll cut you a small price break for multiple kits. Great service, nice folks. As of today they have 76 kits left. I figure that I've saved a bundle over buying parts separately. Ask for Heather, ext. 201. BTW I don't work for SOG just always looking to save a few bucks!!!

I just ordered a kit. Nice folks.

If you have never ordered from them, they require a copy of your drivers license and a statement you are over 18 and not a felon faxed to them.

Just got my last 3 M53 kits from SOG.. Ordered them on Mon. afternoon. Got them on Thurs. PM. Great service and packaging. 2 barrels in good shape, 1 so-so. One bipod had a shroud catch broken off. All the rest of the parts were fine. Interesting that you get every single part including most roll pins and both buffer tabs. Not bad for the price!! These guns definitely saw some combat somewhere in Bosnia or Serbia!!!!

I have been lurking aroudn for a while and thought I should just put in my two cents.

I ordered one of the SOG kits based on the reports on this board and the price. My kit is quite nice. I have not looked at the bore condition yet but the other parts are in very good shape. There is a very small amount of pitting over the bolt face but this is a lot less than nearly every other bolt face I have seen that has shot 8mm. The remainder of the parts are in good to very good condition with nothing broken or dented that I could see. I am quite pleased with the kit conisdering the price. I already have a kit from IO that I bought a long time ago and this one is just as nice or better.

Just thought I should post my results.

jsut got mine from SOG good barrels 2 of 3 bolts good one is missing many odd parts. not bad for the price but in all cases the barrel shroud does not have the front piece to attch the booster assembly, i understand that i was not to get a lower receiver but no barrel end/ is this SOP or should i ask them for one of these pieces?

thanks

Yugo M53 and MG42 de-mils

Well over a year ago Century (actually it lawyers and senior staff) decided to stop including receiver pieces with the parts sets. This was after the "ugliness" with the PPSH 41's that were de-milled in a way that allowed them to be easily pieced together and fired. So, it was decided no more rear sections are included with the parts set. The non-inclusion of the front part (that the barrel booster attaches to) was just part of that decision to ensure no live machine guns could be built.
Apparently it is no fun being called into court to explain what you are selling and why. The BATFE digging around to see if you are selling something too close to being a machine gun is also a real hindrance to commerce.

Thats the SOP. You WILL NOT get the front barrel support. The receivers that come w/ these kits are not buildable. I'll say that again if anyone wasn't sure. you CAN'T build a working gun with the included receiver. You still need a front section, center section and rear section.

Got mine from SOG the other day, less than a week turnaround. Forward frame probably not usable, the rest of it is in good or better condition. If all of them have cut booster threads, why pay more.

Picked up kit yesterday, they have 10 left. Overall condition very good or better, nice crest on top cover which is like new. Grip panels distressed but the wooden buttstock is very good. Barrel is ex or better with almost no wear from cleaning rod. Nice kit, all small parts. Wish I had seen this before I bought all of the missing or messed up parts to complete the "complete" parts set I found on another board. Lon
