Whats the difference in 308 and 8mm feed trays & top cov
After buying a couple of supposed I.O. 308 M53 parts sets I recently picked up a 8mm kit after comparing the parts I discovered that all the parts are the same except for the barrels and 1 of the boosters and bearings had a little smaller hole in it. I guess what I am asking is can you shoot 308 using the 8mm feed parts and 308 barrel and booster? Thanks

The .308 feed tray is shorter (front to back) to fit the .308 cartridge, which is shorter than the 8mm. It won't work. .308 feed trays are easy enough to get, it's the 8mm that are harder to find. Email Dan at angola armory and ask him if he has one for .308. The feed pawls are slightly different too, but it only makes a difference on some guns, not all. If it works, it's fine. I personally have a different feed cover and tray for .308, but they came with the gun. I never checked to see if the 8mm pawls would work for me for .308, as I didn't have to. The smaller holed nozzle (inside the recoil booster) is for .308. There are messages on here discussing nozzle hole size and what's appropriate for a particular circumstance. Read all the old posts - it's worth the trouble.
