ok, since I'm still waiting on things, I'm looking for Barrels-who has them now?
I figure on about 4 42 Bbl.s and 2 34 Bbls.

does anyone have a line on these ?
I hate the idea of not being able to change out Barrels.

BTW, what else will I need?

TIA,
Dan

If you are looking for .308 barrels try Numrich, aka Gun Parts. They still might have them.

I have two 8mm barrels and storage container that I may sell since I have not been able to find a feed tray. I think I will just use the .308 barrels that I have. If you are interested let me know and I will send my email address and photo's.

I should possibly have some NEW-USA MADE barrels in 308 soon. Made this one last week and shot it last weekend, every thing worked perfectly. Don't have a cost yet as I don't have a firm price on volume barrel blanks. Will keep everyone advised.

I like the idea of new US made barrels. That'll show em to ban barrel imports.

Is it to our advantage to "Show Them" that the ban did no good or would it be better to not say anything at all? granted they will catch on eventually anyway.

Hgosnell - I read somewhere that the barrel extensions were pinned to the barrels - True? How hard does that make to remove?
I could see big business on your end of people sending barrel extensions to you for new barrels to be installed. Moot point if we can do it ourselves.

They are not pinned, but threaded. The extensions have a snall pocket milled into the face and when the barrel is torqued up you are suppose to take a center punch to the barrel and punch next to the pocket and swell face into yhe pocket to prevent loosnening.

barrels ext are not pinned on, they are screwed on and tightened, lmo never listed barrels you have to call them

Aye, easy on that period punch...they don't need a hard strike :)

MG42 barrels are screwed on and peened. MG34 barrels are screwed on and pinned.

MG42 Barrels are screwed on and "staked" with a light center-punch........

Early MG34 Barrels were screwed on and then drilled off-center for a retension-pin......
the germans found that this was not a requirement (as with the MG42 barrels......and stopped doing it on later barrels. The later barrels had a slight grind-notch near the edge of the barrel-extention...(the new barrel was screwed on and the center-punched near this grind-notch on the extention to retain the barrel on the extention.

"But".....you will more than likely find those "one-ofs" where some rebuild/re-barrel-plant behind the "lines" felt that "the pin was there when it came in......soooooooo, the pin goes back in before it goes out".

That is good news. Good pic too. So with a few of the right tools we can install new barrels into exsiting barrel extensions.
