:( I called Inter Ordnance Friday 12/23 to order my M-53 parts kit. They're sold out. They're out of all their MG-42 kits. I know the barrel ban goes into effect Jan. 1. Have I missed the boat. Please, someone help.

The BATFE has decided the barrels and kits that do not meet the "sporting purpose" of their definition can not be imported after Jan 06.

Barrels and kits? I thought it was just the barrels the new ban effected??? I was thinking about just going ahead and ordering a barrel now and holding off on the kit for a few weeks.

If the kits came in with the barrels chopped, it would not be a big deal to pull the barrel extension off the stub and machine a new one from a blank. If the barrel extensions don't get imported at all, that would be a much larger problem.

Northridge has cut barrels with an intact locking piece. They are like 39.00. We may see them cheaper and then again we may not. Personaly I pick up a few if I was short on them. I would then try to get a group buy of stainless steel CNC turned ER Shaw short chambered barrels going. Might be fun!

If thats the case then theres no real worry for now because there seems to be more than enough MG parts and kits. :P.

I am planning a nice order in 06 am my gonna have problems finding stock all suddenly
I wouldn't bet the farm on that one.... Numrich was sold out of the $50 German WWII excellent condition barrels 2 weeks after the annoucement of the barrel ban.. I wish I had bought more than 1!!!

Last week on gunbroker there was a MG42 excellent condition 8mm barrel listed for $109 buy it now price... I was going to sleep on it and buy it the next morning.. Well... ya snooze ya lose cause it was GONE. People are buying up the kits now in anticipation of the ban... And they're buying in QUANTITY!! Good kits with barrels will be gone soon.. Just what the ATF wants..

If you want a kit, get it as quick as you can... Good luck if you wait to long.. I'm glad I got my kit before the ban was announced! Wish I had more barrels!! i only have one 8mm and a 308... Damn damn damn.... Now they're over $100 a pop.. Damn!

You can pick up the locking piece for $18 from AA_OK.com. The barrels are getting scarce.

I'm surprised to hear Numrich sold out of barrels in 2 weeks.... I ordered 9 of them the night the news came out. I only got 7 of them, but they're nice. I figure they'll last me until I'm too old to shoot, and I expect that to be at least 40 years. I learned "Snooze, you lose" a long time ago with an M60 for $3,000. I haven't had that happen again, and I won't if I can help it. :)

The best kit, IMHO, would be Dan at Angoloa Armory. 3 cut kits in 308 with bipod - $550. Extra shooters grade barrel is $50. He is taking names and should be shipping in a week or two. From what i undrrstand this is it for the 3 cut kits. So if you need one. now is the time. Same thing with the barrels. Dan is a good guy to deal with. He takes credit cards. What more could you want! BTW, he will try and accomodate markings if you get on the list. So if you want a Waffen stamp or something this is your chance.

No worries...all is well. I sent off for my kit from Dan's yesterday. (Whew...that was close). I talked to Dan on the phone and a couple of times via E-mail and I have but one thing to say...Awesome Customer Service! This guy really knows his stuff. He was very, very helpful and answered all of my questions about the kit very clearly. If your looking for a kit, then Dan's the man hands down. I'm sure I'll be posting a mountain of questions here when the kit comes in. :D
