IMA German MG42 rear reciever pieces
Can anyone give me an idea what these pieces are worth? Thinking of selling 1 of the sets. I know I paid $250 when they were offered for sale.

Re: IMA German MG42 rear reciever pieces
Funny I was talking about that with someone yesterday. The general thought was around the price of a 2 piece shell receiver. plus or minus. In my thoughts the IMA is worth more. Main 3 reasons 1st. it's correct, original 2nd you don't have to weld the center together over the length 3rd it has the rivet dimples
Big one for me is if you are trying to get a correct German MG42 together then don't use the modern parts, use original parts. That said if it's a yugo front then whatever goes.
Ok, price 400. to 450. up to the markings also. Even IMA had a pricing scale for the different makers.
Also when was the last time you saw one up for sale so $500?

Thanks 42rocker for the response. I was hoping they were worth more than I had paid.

Re: IMA German MG42 rear reciever pieces
I think it depends on the type or means of cutting the sections, ie., torched, or saw cut. Secondly, if Torch cut, how bad is the corrosion as a result of that. And lastly, are the rails removed, and how? Some cut rear sections are all but ruined due to torch cutting, corrosion, and rail removal by taking a grinder wheel and gouging the dimple so badly that it nearly penetrates that entire area. So, the amount might vary depending on the above possibilities to anywhere from $150-$550.

For $350, I think someone would want to see pictures...

Re: IMA German MG42 rear reciever pieces
Five years ago I sold two at $500 each. That was a mistake. There are German kits without the rear receiver that would best be built with a real receiver. German shrouds sell for about $800. Complete with receiver sections the price is doubled.

Re: IMA German MG42 rear reciever pieces
These are excellent receiver pieces. I built 1 running german semi already, and have started to build a second from the same receiver sections I purchased from IMA. I personally removed the flame cut through rails with an end mill and removed the head. Punched the rest of the rivet through with a punch. So no damage.

Ben,
I received both your PMs but am unable to respond to them. When I try to respond I get a message stating I have to participate in the discussions more to use these features. Send me another PM and include your email address or phone. I am interested at the price you posted and would like pictures. I am also in Wisconsin. Where are you located? Here is my email again to try c_riechman@(remove this)yahoo.com

You have to post 5 messages and you'll have full access after that. You've been on here a long time, but you've never posted anything until recently.
I've changed the rules since then, but you fall under the old rules since you registered here years ago. Post a couple messages with ;aldfja;ldkjfa;ldf in them and you'll get full access. I can just delete the garbage messages after you post them to get your 5 messages in.

John,
Thank you for responding to me. I was Napoleon Bourdeau's friend/side kick. I always wore the Wisconsin ball cap. Nap and I used to come down to Knob Creek and see you every year for ages. I believe Nap had every manual you ever published, some were signed.
Nap Passed away in 2017 and I have not been down to the creek since. Maybe one of these years I will get back down there.
I have the MG34 running great, but have inherited a MG42 franken gun that needs help. Your manuals will help me get this basketcase running.
