This was in the mail yesterday,
probably one of the last yugo parts kits in new arsenal condition,
still packed in a 3mm thick coat of sticky grease








Going to order a crate of brake cleaner
How is the stock finished? Is it black paint or just plain wood?
(then I know if I can use acetone or fuel to get rid of the gunk)

is this from ZiB militaria? No barrel, no bolt and welded block inside trunnion?

Its from ZiB, but I didnt notice any welding.
Bolt body and other parts are there, only the bolt head and barrel are missing

Going to start stripping and cleaning tomorrow

Well, after 4 hours of dipping and brushing in Kerosene, most of the small parts are done

Upon reassembly, is there a list of parts that should be greased/oiled?

I keep everything lightly oiled, and put a drop or two on the trigger assembly. A light layer of grease on the rails is good for a gun being shot, but if it is just for display, light oil would be fine. The MG42 does not rust easily, so there is not much to be done for maintenance of a gun that is not shot.

In Belgium only people with a collector's licence can shoot Full Auto once a year,
the rest of the year it's for display on the closet.

Getting an MG42/53 SemiAuto licensed for regular people is impossible I think.

I just asked because there was a lot of general purpose grease behind the barrel guide?
(also on the threads of the buttstock and bipod pivot but that's a no brainer)

I got back from there Sunday night. They shoot twice a year, in April and October. There is also a gun show, and machine gun rentals are available so that people who do not own a machine gun can shoot. I talked with a few Germans, Canadians, and Norwegians there this time. Sometimes, a bus load of Japanese will come to the show.

yes, you can buy them

a) deactivated or as a parts kit without barrel or bolt: only show ID

b) semi-auto: a whole bunch of paperwork (minimum 3 months of writing, copies, investigation, permission from the governor, ...)

c) full-auto: collectors license, present a list of the weapons you gather to the governor and that's it.
(but before you get a collectors license, there's also a lot of paperwork, copies, ...)

I talked with a lot of people with accents. I don't remember and Aussies or Kiwis or New Zealanders this time, but I know I've spoken with many in the past. An accent I enjoy is South Africa. Very friendly guys.
