So my only current set up is a puke green (metallic pea) mg3 stock. I'm thinking these really have no collector value and would look better in black to go along with a nice german 42.Basically a wartime bakelite fakie. Considered blasphemy or go for it?

Are you talking about a post war Yugo stock or an entire weapon?

There have been several posts from folks wanting a green buttstock. Some folks might be willing to trade. So before you paint think tradings or just buying one of the postwar black bakelite buttstocks and keeping that one green.
Of course some of this is up to where you are located. If your in England or Africa it's something different.

Getting paint to stick to plastic would be difficult, even when you put in the flexible paint additive. You might check to see if vinyl siding dye is available in black. A Sharpie pen would do it too, but it would take several coats. At least it wouldn't peel.

Trade it for a black one. Or switch to wood. Not the $600 fake special. LOL

What's the value of one of these MG3 stocks anyways? I'm sure I couldn't straight trade for a wwII wood or bakelite.

Another option for you is RTG sells the black bakelite MG3 stocks...the one I got from him was really nice BTW.

I'd be willing to trade you a wood (black painted) yugo stock thats in pretty good shape for the green MG3 stock, if that will work for you. I can take some pics of it if you like. Maybe too you can swap the internals for the corrcet thread pitch depending on the buffer you are using.
I've been interested in finding a post war Bund green MG3 stock. If you you decide to sell the green stock let me know. A lot of guys don't want to post war stuff, but I've been collecting a lot of West/East German cold war items, so I'm interested.

RTG is something I've been meaning to go check out...about 20 min away from my house. Thanks for the offer Der Adler, but I'd like to keep this all german for now. Any idea on what the Green stock is worth?
