Someone order an Mg42 from Lithuania?

Nothing too crazy but always neat when you seen the MG42 mentioned in the AP wires:

Wait, no that was not mine..... I think that it was going to someone in Minnesota...
That's it the real address was Minnesota..... No, not my old address either, I left there over 40 years ago....

Interesting in how they placed the bullets so that it looks like the mg42 was ready to fire.
Also did not download and blow up pic, but it has two interesting things. Slotted screw in barrel change door (not yugo) and does not look like it has the slot on the bottom of the safety button, which is normally an early mg42 as that slot was added on most at a later date.. Also 2 top covers.

Ok, that's one part sold. Next up for bid is the extra top cover....

With a closer look that fully working machine gun might just have a problem the grip stick is not attached to the receiver.... Therefore I don't think that it would even work.... Even thought they almost shut down the airport over a gun that might not even work...

Look at the grip stick lack of hook up....

Next looking at the front of a few rounds.... Do those look like crimped bullets or blanks????

Yeah, stand back everybody. It's a dangerous piece of hardware here. We're lucky they didn't call the bomb squad for a controlled detonation. This is almost as bad as the Japanese earthquake! We're lucky to have survived. Better get everyone some oxygen, just in case. Move along now.

On a more rational note, it looks like crimped blanks in the belt, and that the split pin for mounting the grip had the heads rust off. The bolt is probably permanently rusted to the barrel, and the recuperator is a hollow tube with rusty particles that used to be springs. Whew, it gets more dangerous by the second. I bet ATF could get it to fire a double tap if you give them the chance to put someone in jail.

Considering that the receiver is legal to own in may European countries, and that it's the bolt and barrel that can't be functional, I'm not seeing the big deal here.

I still like the stock.

John, I thought that you bought the stock..... Wait was it in the US mail,,, maybe you can buy it in the left over stuff auction that some of the sold twice stuff keeps showing up in.

Just have to ask... What did you like about the butt stock so much? The single metal band and not the wire wrap or ????

It's just nice looking wood, not beat, chipped, or worn. It's not that I don't already have a nice bakelite and a nice wood buttstock..... I just appreciate what I see. The rest of the gun is a beater.

I agree with John. The wood is in exceptional shape. The corners on the rear end are not bashed all to hell from having the gun rest on the ground on the end of the stock. Usually you seen the tips of the stock rounded over from abuse.

A close family friend over in Germany after the war ended oiled the dickens out of his Mg34, placed it in its transit case, and then encased it in cement within his front door step at his house.

Assuming he was not lying, someday, some home-owner in Germany will find a neat surprise during a renovation. Hopefully it will be well into the future so that the gun can be taken to a museum and properly cared for.

Considering that concrete is able to be easily penetrated by water, that gun won't be recognizable if it's ever found. Too bad. Concrete is a horrible way to try to preserve anything. A vapor barrier such as a sealed plastic pipe, or even having it covered in grease and wrapped in plastic sheets would be far better. A wood box in concrete is death by rust waiting to happen.
