I have the same stamp on mine. The only reference I can find is that it is a 1944 date stamp, but I am sure that it would be by the serial number not the by the rear sight mount. I have a feeling this has come up before and there was another explination for it. Unfortunately I have slept since then so I have forgotten.
The only thing that helps me maintain my slender grip on reality is the friendship I share with my collection of singing potatoes.

I think PJ is a date code for the factory "bpr"
I don't know if it's 1943 or 44, but sure it has been used by bpr.

Is your PJ marked center piece on the rest of the receiver?? If so is the rear marked? And if so could you please post a photo of the markings on the rear.. Anything, please..
