I am planning on more work in my semi when I get home from work next week and thinking about an issue I had with it last time I took it out to play. It appears that the bolt is hitting the face of the barrel. It actually looks like the bolt is hammering the face of the barrel. I am thinking that it may be the recouperator, but figured I would ask yall's opinion first. I dont think this is normal. I tried searching but didn't come up with anything. Has anyone had this happen, and what was your possible fix.
Thanks in advance,
Eric

Re: Bolt hits barrel face
your chamber is to deep, with a live round no ext. fp you should see 5-7thousands between bolt and bbl the wedge needs to be used to make sure the rollers are locked to the barrel ext.

Re: Bolt hits barrel face
Gordie gave you the shorthand version.... here is the long version.
If you don't have headspace gauges:
Take the bolt and barrel out of the gun. Remove the firing pin. Make SURE you remove the firing pin. Put the bolt back together and put the cartridge in the bolt recess. Put the cartridge and bolt onto/into the barrel extension. With the cartridge in the chamber, push the bolt in far enough that the bolt head rollers are fully outward in the curved grooves of the barrel extension. If they're not fully out, that's a problem. If the bolt face touches the barrel face, and that's what's stopping the rollers from being allowed to go fully outward, that's a problem.
If the rollers are fully outward, check the gap between the bolt face and the barrel. If there is NO gap at all, that's a problem.
Possibilities include a mismatched bolt/barrel (I have a pair myself that won't work together, but work with every other barrel and bolt I have), barrel not screwed into the barrel extension far enough or too far, or a problem with the bolt head.
Let us know your test results, and we'll figure it out from there.

John REALLY gets to learn a bunch-he reads his manuals in TWO languages,in case he doesn't learn enough in just one. Besides,he actually like to learn how something works before he uses it! Fortunately,he is pretty good about letting us in on his knowledge. But just in case, buy the manual! (shameless plug) ---bil

Re: Bolt hits barrel face
Jbaum is always VERY generous with such information.
One thing I have noticed with my gauges is that my German WW2 bolts have more issues with the yugo barrel extensions, maybe it is just me , and maybe not enough to make a difference in combat , but when a no-go gauage says no-go-I tend to listen since the Russians are not streaming through the Courland-at the moment

I will headspace ASAP when I get home next week. If it is bad, I have completely given up on Wiselite. They didn't even respond to my emails concerning other issues.

Re: Bolt hits barrel face
Eric
Would you also check on one other thing. Please check to see if the camming (trunnion, ok wrong name buttt) pieces have matching numbers. The reason that I ask this is Wiselite offered and did a lot of rebuilds of the parts kits from centerfire and if like most of the cf parts kits that I have seen, the camming pieces did not match. Only seen 11 kits, none matched, camming pieces that is.
Please check to see if yours match.
Also from what I remember Wiselite removed the original barrels and used a US made barrel. Thus the barrels for sale at apex... As stated in other posts from wiselite. Therefore ??? head space issue??? Check to see if original barrel also, please.
Good Luck....
