Hi all,
Have been away from the site for quite awhile (years) when I traded my MG42 kit for an M14. Before Christmas I drifted back over and got the fever again. I asked the wife for one of the CenterFire M53 kits and lo and behold she got me one!
I am now at the beginning stages again of a build. My kit was in ok shape but it was missing a couple small parts that according to the parts list on CF website are not included. I need the typical front recuperator L screw and nut but my kit was also missing the recuperator (plunger?) the last piece that goes into the recuperator that the barrel pushes against.
The third picture down, the top piece in the recuperator.

I know Robert at RTG, Brian at BRP and Karma all have the recuperator screws, but who might have the plunger? ( I sent Robert and Brian emails asking if they have one.)
Some things have improved since I was doing my build back then, so I am perusing the posts to see which direction I want to go with the build as far as receiver, grip, and bolt. I didn't ask for a barrel as I am going to try to build up a .308. Its great to be back and I'm sure I'll have many questions getting reaquanted.

I'd call Dan at Angola Armory LLC for any 42 parts that youd need. Good luck

Hi Steve!!
I finished up your gun several years ago. Since then I upgraded the firing pin to Pirates V2.0. Got an 8mm set-up, postwar H&K tripod, AA Tripod and other accessories. One of my favorites to shoot. Do you still have the M14? Great to have you back to the forum.

Re: Greetings and Salutations......Again!!!
More of the older[time-wise] members-I thank you all for having this excellant site and info back when I first got interested in these. That was when it was really uncertain if the 42 could be made to run successfully and consistantly ,the 34 projects were really rare, and the 53 half kits were just starting to show up.You guys inspired me to try a build[or two] and got me started.Do you have any idea how much that cost???
Thanks. ---bil

Greetings
Good luck with your m53 build.... Before you buy,,, try to take a pic of the missing parts and email centerfire about your missing pieces. I was missing one also on one of my kits and they sent me one.... Ra Ra CF...
On the "front recuperator L screw" I believe that KMP also is making new ones.

Thanks all, I am steadily readin the old posts to catch up on the "old" "new" news
42rock - I will do just that...doesn't hurt and you never know.
fjruple - great to hear from you...as a matter of fact it is on the bookcase next to me. I put it in a fiberglass stock and gave the thing a desert paint job. I am debating taking it to a local Appleseed shoot in Apr.
URAR1004 - thanks, I almost forgot about Dan.
