Any Web Sites Showing Actual WW2 MG42 Manufacturing?
Does any one know of any web sites that show actual WW2 MG42's being manufactured?I would like to see images of the factories, machinery, and the people making them.

Not sure of any websites...but there was one special talking about the Waffen-SS and one of the sections they talked about was the MG42 being a major asset for the troops.
I missed the depth of it, but will record it next time it is on. If there is something worthwhile I'll let the gang know and if it looks really good, maybe I can lift some scenes from it and post it here.
There might be some manufacturing clips in it...the parts I saw had mentioned the King Tiger and showed a couple manufacturing images

There is something on you-tube-I found it last year, but can't remember where.Showed them stamping them.I think there is a page in the Myrvang book that shows each bend in order, from a flat to full bent receiver. ---bil

I saw a picture on this sight last week from a guy in Arizona that had a very impressive manufacturing operation going on

Hey Aftershock....just saw a program on the Military channel regarding the Waffen-SS.
It had maybe 10 minute just about the MG42. There was about a minute of showing a manufacturing plant making the 42. It mentioned about how faster they could make the 42 over the 34 due to the sheet metal and plastics involved in making them.
Had several real footage of the 42 as well as some reneacments.
They also covered several other 'weapons of the Waffen-SS'. Pretty cool.
I recorded it and look forward to watching it this weekend
Highly recomended people on this site to watch

The show was on the Military channel, program was 'Weaponology' and this particular episode was 'Waffen-SS'
Re: Any Web Sites Showing Actual WW2 MG42 Manufacturing?
Thanks for the heads up I may pick up some pointers on the manufacture

Re: Any Web Sites Showing Actual WW2 MG42 Manufacturing?
well...you can get some pointers if you have a steel bender machine...and a smelting plant and moulds!!!
I'll watch the rest of the show this weekend but they also talked about the Lugar. Interesting points I never knew about the Lugar...
one is that it is balanced in such a way you could close your eyes, raise the gun up to your shoulder level...then open your eyes...and the gun is aimed right in a straight line from your arm...something like that! I see S&W has a handgun that boasts the same thing...hmm...wonder where they got their inspiration from!
another interesting bit about the Lugar is all the parts were numbered because the gun was basically hand fitted each part...so each part has the last two digits of the serial number marked on it.
pretty neat.
