Is the Century MG-42 Semi ever going to happen?

Post by Franz 1796 »

Anyone have new information? Have these been put on the back burner or flushed for good?

It's on. Wiselite is in production on these now, however assembly is slow.

Let me make a small correction here..
Century will be selling a semi-auto Yugoslavian M53.
There are small detail differences between the Yugoslavian M53 and the German MG42.

Richard-would someone be able to switch out the top-cover on your 53 to a 42 German-marked one? You could also add the AA sights[owner, not Wise-lite]to make it look more like a 42.Then the only real visable dif would be the shroud taper. ---bil

Another question-did the Yugos have the front sight on some of their guns? Or is the section with this only on the German pieces? Thanks. ---bil

Richard,

Thanks for the update on these. I've been keeping my fingers crossed because I really wanted to see this product become a reality. Can't wait to see the finished product. :D

In theory, you can change over top covers as no parts are changed or modified for semi-auto function.
However.... the cover gets checked over and adjusted for proper feed operation.
Some covers are fine as they are but no quarantee that any/every cover will allow for proper operation.
Some of the barrel shrouds have the AA front sight base, but most don't.
We know there are German parts/assemblies mixed in with Yugo pieces, that may explain why some barrel shrouds have "German" features.
Barrels are new and headspaced. Any barrel besides the one supplied with the firearm needs to have the headspace checked prior to use.

Richard,

I bought one of your receivers from MGS that was assembled. It looks like it might have been a completed M53. It was still in the nuded but had grease in the charging handle groove and on the inner rails. The front had a rough cut and the inside had metal filings. Do you know the story behind this receiver?

A tapper is a guy that comes up behind you when you are working on a delicate part and 'taps' you on the shoulder, causing you to drop the part and smash him in the puss.A taper is the part of the receiver that gets narrower as it procedes towards the front,it starts in a different place on the 53 than the 42.A tapir is a small animal with a long snout, related to the anteater. Next question, please. ---bil ........ I know, but sometimes I can't help it.
