MG42 kit from SG

Post by pmcbs »

I just purchased a MG42 kit from Sportsmansguide. I receive a yugo m53 call them and they said must have been labeled wrong. They sent me a UPS label to send it back. Saying they had 19 kits still on the shelf. So, should I just cancel the order or wait until they sent another. I can get an m53 kit from Military Supply here in Fort Worth for about half the price.

Odds are, any "MG42" kit you see is actually an M53 kit.

Other than receiver markings and other very minor changes, there isn't a lot of difference between the two. The M53 may be in better shape.

Thanks for the response. I have been interested in building one of these for some time. Hope I did wait to long.

i thought the sportsmans guide kits were identical to all the other kits out there in that they don't have all the receiver sectons. If this is true I'd say return it and buy from another company for less than half what SG is asking.
if you do have all the receiver section HOLD onto that kit with both hands.

Yep just got off the phone had them open boxes to check.

NO RECEIVERS.

They gave me a refund and are paying for the shipping back.

I order a 199.00 from CFS.

Now ive got to try to find the receiver parts.
What fun.

Well i just spent what i saved on the receiver from Gunmetal the #4 one. Since i figured that the parts from ima were 135 and cam part is about 125. It was worth the 250 i hope. Now for the missing front.
