Hello all,
I ran into a problem I did not understand and hope you can help.
I got a MG42 kit from Dan at AA. (which I am very happy with... OT)
Anyway I got a 34/43 sling, the kind with two straps and the little box shaped pistol grip connector. Anyway the little box shaped connector was two small and I was unable to close it. So either the box is to small or the grip is to wide.... anyone have this problem/know what I am doing wrong/what I need to get?
My sling looked like this:
MG42 sling fit?
As I understand it, the early slings for the MG34 are slightly narrower than the universal MG34/MG42 slings. When the MG42 came along they made the sling fitting slightly wider to accept the grip on both guns.
If your having trouble fitting your sling to a MG42 then its almost certain to be a early (MG34) sling.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Tommy

Sounds like you got a MG34 sling.IMBLITZVT wrote:

The gripstick on the 34 is not as wide as the 42 gripstick so a 34 sling will not fit a 42.
Slings that were made after the 42 was introduced had a square connector that was wider and they will fit both.
