I have wondered about this for a while now and since we have a good MG42 Forum, maybe someone can answer this question.
Most of the MG42 photos from the war show the Bipod with the adjusting screw between the legs. All the kits I have seen have the Bipod without the adjusting screw. When was this change made? Was it near the end of the war or mostly a post was modification.
Are any of the screw adjustable type available and what is an approimate price/
Thanks for the help!
MG42 Bipods
Re: MG42 Bipods
Abwehr, those are what I refer to as the early 42 bipod. I believe they changed sometime in 43. Yes they are available, between me and my buddies 42 kits (aprox. 12) its a50/50 shot of getting one. I can tell that NONE of the IO kits that I have seen came with them, mostly AA kits or BRP kits.Abwehr wrote:I have wondered about this for a while now and since we have a good MG42 Forum, maybe someone can answer this question.

Early Bipods
ak47dennis,
Thanks for the information! I may give Brian a call at BRP to see if he has one for sale at a decent price. I think the early Bipod is nice looking with the screw adjustment.
At worst case, I could add a "fake" screw to my Bipod, but I don't really want to modify it since it is original. Thanks again for the info!!!
