New MG42 Manual just finished - now on my website

Post by JBaum »

OK, I have it on the website now. This latest manual is made for the MG1/MG2, which of course means the MG42 as well. It's now in English and available for sale.

This 76 page manual (originally 93 pages), besides telling about stoppages of all sorts and how to disassemble/assemble the gun, has exploded diagrams of all parts, including the recuperator, bolt, buffer, stock, grip, cocking handle, bipod, barrel change door, front and rear sights, and top cover feed assembly. Every rivet, spring, bolt, pin, screw, and all parts, big and little, are shown with lines indicating their assembly position. Everything that was in the original manual is included, it's just reformatted with a lot less wasted space and no blank pages like the original had.

It also explains the operation of the gun, with excellent diagrams showing how everything moves upon firing.

If you bought a parts kit and want to know what you have, what you're missing, and how it all goes together and works, this is the manual to have. I haven't seen the exploded pictures anywhere else. They're the main reason I translated this manual.

There's one stamping inside it with a name that's dated May 20, 1990, so this is no old manual from WW2, this is closer to current production use than any other manual I've done.

The only one I have that's newer is 160 pages, and that won't be done for quite a while.

I produce a quality product, not something you'd be ashamed to tell people you actually paid money for.

$23 and that includes first class U.S. postage. Money order ship immediately, checks are ok but will wait to clear. I will accept Paypal, but only if there's no other convenient way for you to pay. I prefer not to use Paypal because of Ebay's anti-gun, anti-second amendment policies. I try not to let 'em make money for being against us.

thanks to all the guys who have bought from me in the past. I'll keep 'em coming.

I can't say for sure that I'll make it there on Saturday. I'm sure I can be there Friday if anyone wants anything, or wants to look things over before making a selection. My son is coming home from Afghanistan that Saturday. I don't know when his flight is yet, or what time, or which airport (Cleveland or Pittsburg), so I have no idea what's going on. His ride home from the airport and spending some time with him will come first.

Don't be bashful, ask me closer to the time it happens. I should know a week ahead of time what the game plan is. I've been to it the last 4 times, since it's close to home. I don't bother taking any guns since I can shoot in my yard.

If I go to Bulletfest, I'll be wearing the same gawd-awful hot pink ball cap that I wear at Knob Creek. I haven't seen another one like it, and most people wouldn't wear it if they had it given to them, anyway.

Bulletfest is 8 miles from where I live, which is 3 miles north of Lisbon. Lisbon is only about 5 miles from the shoot. I live in the country and just yesterday had my MG42 out in the side yard and blew off a few rounds. The neighbors are used to me. :D

He's been in Afghanistan for 7 months now. Says he spends most of his time riding in the rear humvee with his head out of the turret hanging on to a 240G. He says he'd rather have my MG42, since the 240G is so dirty after 500 rounds that he's had it jam. I guess they don't have enough M60s left to go around, which I'm sure he'd rather have than the 240G.

Anyway, thanks for the good wishes. Until he's home, all I can say is "So far, so good."

So far it looks good for Bulletfest on Saturday. My son is supposed to get into Pittsburg at 9 in hte evening, so I'll be at Bulletfest in the daytime. I wear a gawd-awful hot pink ball cap so people can recognize me. I'll have several of each manual with me, but if you want something for sure, let me know so I'll be sure to have more than just one or two with me.

thanks,
