Original GErman MG42 grips will be black or redish brown or brown bakelite. I have seen all three maker marked. POst war also used the reddish brown.

The soldier in the background wears an Austrian uniform. So I think it's a MG74. I've never seen green furniture on any MG3 I've seen or used.

MG74 are the ONLY guns with "green" furniture as originally manufactured. Steyr was one of the original co-operative builders in the post-war MG42/59 program, and supplied many parts for all other users. After 1973, Austria stopped buying MG42/59's and adopted their own slightly modified version, the MG74. Due to continuing commitments with the other original users of the MG42/59 program, Steyr still supplied as spare parts certain items, among them plastic furniture sections. The green butt stocks were supplied to many, almost no green grip panels were supplied. Finding a German/Italian/Iranian, etc. MG42/59(MG3) with a replacement green buttstock is not hard.

Here are some photos of my factory original Steyr MG74 machine gun, showing the very light green coloring of the stock and grip panels.
