just curious any one know the correct grip panel and buttstock colors to use?
mg42 buttstock; wood, black Bakelite, all ww2 grips I have got black panels, although there is also red,and brown

MG74 are the ONLY guns with "green" furniture as originally manufactured. Steyr was one of the original co-operative builders in the post-war MG42/59 program, and supplied many parts for all other users. After 1973, Austria stopped buying MG42/59's and adopted their own slightly modified version, the MG74. Due to continuing commitments with the other original users of the MG42/59 program, Steyr still supplied as spare parts certain items, among them plastic furniture sections. The green butt stocks were supplied to many, almost no green grip panels were supplied. Finding a German/Italian/Iranian, etc. MG42/59(MG3) with a replacement green buttstock is not hard.
Here are some photos of my factory original Steyr MG74 machine gun, showing the very light green coloring of the stock and grip panels.
