MG42 Cleaning

Has anyone ever considered using a long parts washing vat to clean their 42?

The inside of the barrel shroud and frame are so hard to reach. If there was a sonic cleaner long enough to get the whole thing in it would be great.

I want to clean it well and believe there must be an easier method.

Please comment - just looking for out of the box ideas.

A bucket of kerosene and a bottle brush with the long wire handle.

After bead blasting my receiver/shroud assembly, I used a can of automotive brake cleaner to rinse out the inside surfaces. They come with a plastic nozzle to get into the "nooks and cranies" and it worked pretty well for me. It strips all the oil and grease off due to the chemical content, but anyone who has ever done their own brake job knows how well this stuff cleans. Just be sure to wipe everything down with an oily rag when you're done. Works pretty well on the barrel bore and chamber too.

Thanks for the replies guys but I have a C&R 42 and I don't know what the effect of the bead blasting or other stuff might be. As such I was hoping for some sort of long sonic cleaner or something. Plus you solution sound a little like hard work.
