question on barrel bushing

Post by daddybob67 »

i have a wls semi , its had about 200 rounds fired through it. when i took apart the barrel bushing had to be tapped out. the barrel bushing had some rounded edges but not bad. the bushing in the shroud had to be lightly sanded to allow the barrel bushing to move in and out smoothly. had bulges were the barrel bushing was hitting at the end of the channel. was wondering if this is a problem.
already had bolt problem and barrel extension also cracked on this last run. i am not giving up yet just trying to get on top of problems before they happen or get to big. any help or ideas thanks robert

your bushing needed tapped out? what are you trying to tell? i don't get it. your bolt ex. is also cracked, cracked were, at the joined portion of bolt ex.or longitudinal -down it's axis. think this through & better explain yourself. not being a smart a-- , i'm just not on the same page with you.

i have very little wear on the frt bearing---it may not be in the right position ? ? ?
also ---when i take mine out ---you have to lift the frt sight to remove it ---there is a "stop" on the frt sight that prevents the bearing from falling out of the back.
when you lift the frt sight ---the bearing should be able to be removed out of the back with out binding

now the barrel ext----wow ---johns manuals may have some info on this----maybe the barrel and ext are not set at the correct head space for the bolt you are using ? ? ?
just my .02

on the barrel extension, before i took out i check the head space and it was ok. may have been one of the bad extension i have heard about. didnt even looked used.
the barrel bushing ears had impacted at the end of the channels of the bushing pushing up the metal causing the barrel bushing to stick. like when you stack a pin.

The broken barrel extension could have caused the barrel muzzle to jam into the bushing, causing damage.....

It seems that if the "lugs" on the barrel bushing are bottoming out in the guide channels and the barrel is engaging, hitting the barrel stop squarely; then the shroud dimensions should be checked from barrel stop face to end of the "nozzle" for proper length. Just a thought! JR
