I got the safety in, but the grip panels are nowhere near lining up with the safety it seems like the hole shrunk a little bit and actually moved.. What have you guys done?
Which marking on the side is the fire? Its from an m53 kit. The 0 or the Y?
Matching the grip panels to the right gripstick.

Its amazing anything works right around here with a bunch of
over-age juvenile delinquents running the place.

I bought a set of mg42 bakalite (how do you spell that word?) grips for my M53 and they fit exactly like in your
picture. ie they dont fit. Is there a difference between the MG42 and the M53? You can get the screw holes to
line up but the safety will not. Does anyone have one of one of each to compare?

Well i got my new grip assembly today and i can confirm that the Yugo M53 and German MG42 grips are different.
If you look at them the appear to be the same but the holes for the grips are very slightly different.
I will post pics once I have cleaned up the new one.
So i would suspect you have now got a genuine MG42 grip. Get some nice new wooden grips to replace the old Yugo ones because if the are in the same state as mine then you need them. I have seen the bakalie grips for $15 a side I think
