welded dummy receivers
welded dummy receivers
I was thinking about offering a service to weld up receivers to the 80% point, like BRP offers. I would install a bolt block (not like BRP) add a plate though the middle of the rear section and tack weld a plate over the ekection opening. I would also open up the grip area. You would send me your receiver parts and I will clean and weld. Would this be boarder line legal? Your thoughts please.
j.bal,
Make the first one up.....use "TIG" welding for the build......and then post some photos of what you would like to offer at 80%.....I am interested.
Would you be offering "optional" "blued" and/or Black or Gray Parkerized finishes? Costs?
Thanks, RichardS.

PS: Would this service be available using our DEMILed receivers? Costs?

if you want to make dummies be sure to get an outline of legal specs
Great men are born in fire, it is the privilege of lessor men to light the flame, no matter the cost

Ok, there are IMA type dummies we've all seen that you could mimick. They obviously follow guidlines.
The brp blank is a different beast alltogether. It's USA stamped--so it was never a gun (or rifle, eh big brother?).
Ejection port doesn't exist--nor did it ever. There are no provisions to install rails (welded shut). The cam (though original) was
discombobulated from ever working again. It only holds the latch closed, and top cover on.
And that bar in the center. Hmmm. Brian likely has a close relationship with ATF to the point of occasional visits. So If
you're going to attempt an end to end weld up on recvrs, then make the thing as dead as you can.
Maybe re-iterate the claim as a ww2 Dummy rcvr for display only--- Like IMA-- see what I'm saying???
