An importer of parts sets who uses those parts sets to manufacture firearms cannot use the original barrel. Century produced guns have all had new made barrels for several years (every since BATFE instructed them to do this). The Yugoslavian AK's they sell, about the last 1/3 or 1/4 of the CETME's, the last of the FAL's and now the Yugo M53 all have new US made barrels. Century has a barrel maker under contract for this work.

Will Century eventually be selling 8MM barrels for the Yugo M53? Can't say yet, as they may not even know themselves! Often that sort of item gets offered at the end of a "build" program as they are left over parts.
Even Tony at Wise Lite Arms isn't totally briefed on where Century is going with the M53.

Well, that would be a good source for new barrels if they do sell them. Although I wonder what they would cost.

M53 semi

Post by machzero2003 »

This is my first post! I put my name down for pre-order of a M53 semi-auto from Centerfire Systems, who will be getting theirs supplied from Century. I don't know that much about them except that the price is very good for a complete semi compared to semi Mg42's that I've seen. I figure that I'll give it a try and the worst that could happen is that I'll learn a lot and I can always sell it again later. Does anybody know more about this design?

i don't think anyone knows the specifics of century's design yet , probably not even century.
century is known for turning out mediocre FALs , G3s , and Cetmes so i have little faith in a project as difficult as the MG42 . don't despair though we will be here to talk you threw whatever troubles you encounter.
"good , bad, .....I'm the man with the gun."

Its amazing anything works right around here with a bunch of
over-age juvenile delinquents running the place.

The Century Barrels CAN"T be very expensive. The entire gun is only $2200 retail price!
