The axx is the maker of the searching fire unit. The makers code is the triangle with the "S323" inside. This is the markings of "Brandenburger Fahrrad u Motorradwerk", also called "Excelsior."

I realized that after I posted and of course on this forum, you cannot go back and correct typos!

How common was the mis-match of dates on these?
