1st model Laufbehalter photos

Post by ChrisPCook »

1st model Laufbehalter
it measures 655 mm long, 100 mm wide and 50 mm in height.
Manufacturer SWITZ dated 1938 and a WAA 710.
the dominant hue is blue, it is spread over a good 3 / 4 , the last quarter has a dark green camouflage.

the seal has the complexity of typical German early war production.
The strap is cotton, with leather reinforcements at the back seam binding and sewing loop tuning.

Chris....

The lid/closure design of this is quite different to others I have seen, I'm wondering if the SWITZ marking means it is Swiss?? The WaA marking is a puzzle though?

Interesting! Always something new in the field of German military stuff!

Excellent, very rare and early Laufbehalter! SWITZ manufactured laufbehalters and even Lafettes for the WH. I haven't managed to find out more about the manufacturer yet. This one is definetively German (late) 1938 production!

Gurtsack-your site looks great-if only I spoke French! It looks like your pictures may have been poached by someone selling a holder, and didn't bother to take pictures! :? Very nice piece! ---bil

Breaking news!

Post by bergflak »

SWITZ has finally been identified! The company is code "993", Siemens Elektrowärmer G.m.b.H.,Werk Sörnewitz. And it stands to reason why they called it SWITZ.

Sörnewitz

They seem to have changed production to other items in 1940. The only Lafette I have ever found was dated 1939.
