Israeli MG 34 barrel

Post by oda113 »

Can anyone help me with information on Israeli made MG 34 barrels? Basically, are they any good? Will they fit WWII guns? Thanks.

After WW2, the Israelis ended up with a lot of 98K rifles and German machine guns. There is nothing wrong with their barrels - they were made as replacement parts for the German guns.

Yes, they are excellent and chrome lined to boot. They work fine in the WWII guns.

I have several I use regularly in my MG34 and it's much easier to clean them after a session with corrosive ammo! They also appear to last longer than the WWII barrels. Someone told me they were made in Czechoslovakia, although I have found no documentation for that.

Due to the recent barrel importation ban I would advise you to pick up several.....

I have one and use it for both live and blank firing. It fits and works great.

Dave from Sarco Inc. told me to be careful of using reloaded 8mm bullets because the collars on the Israeli barrels are slightly weaker than German manufactured barrels. But for 3 for $100 I took a chance with them.

That information from "MG-Dave" at SARCO sounds a little off.....

After WWII, Israelies bought up a lot of WWII German surplus (and surplus from other countries......when they received the WWII marked equipment, a lot of it had the WWII German markings stamped over (or was stamped over when possible by the Israelies....and then most times a "Star-Of-David" stamped onto the part showing Israeli use.

As the Barrel-Extension was the hardest part to make....most times it was "re-used".......I don't see where Daves was getting that information...as I have bought "mixed" MG34 Barrels from SARCO since the early 1990s (on sale at $250 for ten)...........and the barrel-extentions were most often WWII German........never a problem.
