Lafette T&E lock help

Guys, I refinshed my lafette, but I think I screwed up somewhere. Once I reinstalled the T&E, it no longer locks the traverse. The handle moves freely with zero pressure...did I drop a piece?

The "Traverse-Lock" is the lever on the front-bottom of the elevation-mechanism. The lever is about 3" long and pushed to the side to lock the traverse.
(...and you would not be able to see it from the photo that you posted).

I just posted a picture to show I refinished it :). Sorry for the confusion. Here are pics of the actual lock. It looks fine, moves, but doesn't lock.

When the locking handle is moved to the locked position it should force a small metal "wedge" up against the traverse slide/scale thereby locking it in place.
Sounds like you might be missing that piece.
I almost lost mine when it was dismantled but luckily I heard it drop and looked for it straight away.

Hope this helps.

That looks great! I hope you find the locking wedge.

Now for my question; what type paint did yo use and do you have the color mix?

Here is a picture of the locking wedge from my MG34 Lafette, it only measures about 1 1/4" long and its flat so shouldn't be difficult to manufacture if need be, but easy enough to lose.

Hope the picture helps, now to put my tripod back together.

Tommy, thank you very very much. I swept the garage and went thru my almost full shop vac looking for it. I'll make another.
