Don't buy it without looking in shotgun news first. Combo deals with belts and starters.

Arrived today. About 2 hrs to disassemble, soak in mineral spirts, and clear the Cosomlene off. Used 3 and 1 oil on the moving parts to help keep it loose. No instructions, so it took me a minute to figure out how it worked. Works great now, loads a 50 round belt in 30 seconds. A lot faster than loading by hand. Now I need to clean the local gun store out of their 8mm Romanian as I foresee a lot more shooting in my future!

I took mine completely apart to clean out the old grease and re-oil it. Took me a few tries to get the top cover back on properly...trying to line up the square part with the 3 lugs that holds the belt and lining up its arm thingy (technical term) at the same time to the part that advances it, all while gravity was working against me .

To make mine work smoother (less stiff) I took the spring out of that holds latching part down on the belt as mine was too tight for the yugo belts I had. Works slick as snot now with new modern oil using the yugo belts I have. This is a really neat accessory.

Took me a while to figure out how to get it all to fit in a 8mm can. Its like a puzzle at first.

Next I need to collect a .308 nato belt loader to go with this one.

Yes. A couple of the parts on the one I got had WA marks (some defaced), indicating some recycling of surplus German parts.

Gang,

Do you all use belt loaders? I have always done it by hand so I can 1. ensure proper loading, 2. inspect ammo, and 3. inspection belts.

A normal load for the range for the MG34 or MG42 is 3-4 cans; usually loaded over a couple of nights while watching TV.

Interested in knowing how others tackle loading and how much is their "combat load"?

thanks

greg

My post war and war time loaders appear the same. I use them for all my loading and inspect after loading.

Gulfstream 4,

How much ammo are you loading? How much do you usually take to the range? Just interested in answers.

I have a post war loader (it was given to me) but never really ever imagined using it.

Most of the time I take 2,000 rounds at a time. I do not load until the day before or sometimes I load at the range for demonstrations. I like to soak the belts in transmission oil then drip dry for 24 hours prior to loading.
